Hi I'm Weldon

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a son of teenage parents who love me and taught me the importance of integrity and the value of work. I am married to the most wonderful woman in the world and she is the light of my life. We have six adult children and 15 grandchildren. We wish we could be with them all the time. I am a first generation college graduate who loves production agriculture and the rural communities that serve this great industry that feeds the world. I have worked for three land-grant universities and love to learn and extend new knowledge to young people who desire to return to rural communities. I have a great desire to help those in developing countries who lack the agricultural understanding that is present in the United States. I am especially sympathetic to the little children growing up in poverty. They are so innocent and pure and yet they have few opportunities in life. Being a teacher is very important to me because it is the highest level of service.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family but one that did not practice our faith. However, from a very young age I just knew that the Gospel of Jesus Christ taught through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the fullness of the Gospel. Even though my parents were not active, I attended Church meetings when I was able and lived a good life. As I matured and studied the Gospel through seminary, I had the strongest desire that if I ever found the girl of my dreams, I wanted to marry her in one of the Lord's temples. For I knew that I could have her and my children for time and all eternity. I have come to know that if I live the commandments, I receive the tender mercies of a loving Heavenly Father. I have also come to better understand the atonement of my elder brother, Jesus Christ, and revere Him as my Savior. The greatest and most assuring understanding I have is the Plan of Salvation. I know through the Gospel of Jesus Christ where I came from, why I am here on this earth and where I am going. And the most wonderful thing is I am not alone in this life nor will I be alone throughout eternity. I came from an eternal family, through the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ I can create a potential eternal family, and I can return to an eternal family once my work and mission is completed here upon this earth.

How I live my faith

The Savior was a great teacher and servant. While my abilities will never be a fraction of His, I love to teach and serve others. I think this is what pure religion is all about. It has been my great fortune to teach and serve others throughout my life. As a husband and father I delight in serving my family and seeing my children and now grandchildren wanting to be like their old dad and grandpa. I also see that part of my mission is to be productive in my work. Here too, I teach, serve and develop programs to give others a higher quality of life. I see my employment as a spiritual part of my life and give my employer an extra portion of my time and effort everyday. I pray for guidance in all that I do because I know the Lord has guided me throughout my life to do the things that will bring me the most joy while helping build His kingdom here upon the earth. I love teaching and counseling those in our Church and beyond who have lost their way and desire to return to a wonderful life without all the stress and pain inflicted through living without the Gospel in their lives. Most of all I want to work hard and smart and complete my mission here upon this earth and then continue working throughout eternity within an eternal family because the family is the basic unit of humanity.
