Hi I'm Amy

I grew up in Southern California. I am an artist. I love serving people. I work in the nonprofit sector.

About Me

I am a newlywed in my early 30s who loves being creative and learning how things work. I studied photography and worked in Los Angeles for several years in the commercial photography industry. Additionally I freelanced planning events and sewing costumes. This all lead to the idea of taking my skills into a new career path through getting an MPA and working for a cause rather than promoting products. Life has so much to offer. I am energized by every chance I get to serve people and learn new skills.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I learned for myself through prayer, scripture study, and keeping the commandments of God, that God truly is my Father in Heaven. And as a child of God, He wants me to know how to return back to live with Him again. Thankfully He has created a beautiful plan to allow that to happen. He gave His son, Jesus Christ, to allow me to repent of my sins and be worthy to return to the presence of God. He gave us prophets to teach us about Jesus Christ and how the plan works. And He gave us proper ways to promise to Him that we will obey His commandments. I am a Mormon because I have learned through personal revelation that God teaches His plan today through living prophets and He has established His church as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the earth in our time to help me return to live with Him again. My heart is so full of gratitude to know for myself that these things are true. My life is full of joy and blessings from living the commandments and making covenants with God. I will stand with His church the rest of my days and help others learn of the great joy that comes as we can know who we are, where we came from, and where we are going. I have purpose and hope everyday through knowing the answers to these questions.

How I live my faith

One of the best opportunities in the church is the countless opportunities to serve. I currently visit three women each month and make sure their needs are met. I also help run the children's organization at church and take care of all the children's music time, their annual performance, and the keep tabs on the nursery. Additionally, I am working to plan a family history conference for my city, in junction with a local museum. Our faith also includes temple attendance, which is separate from our regular Sunday meetings. My husband and I love serving in the temple together regularly, where we participate in helping individuals who have passed away receive the opportunity to make promises with God.
