Hi I'm Melanie

I love music, sports, learning, the sun, reading, nature, family, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up surrounded by family and am so grateful for them. Even though I live far away from most of them now, we are able to stay close. I moved away from home for college and have never moved back. Shortly after graduating, I began working at a nursing home as a recreation director. I never planned on working with the elderly, but I love it so much! I love being able to go to work each day and love the people I work with. Each of them is my best friend for different reasons. They make me laugh and feel so loved every day. Finding joy in each day is what makes life exciting. There are not many things that I don’t enjoy doing. I love the arts: music, dance, creating things (though they may not be master pieces), and appreciating others’ talents. I love the outdoors and sports. I love learning, sitting down with a good book, or even listening to others and learning from them. I love eating. I love road trips. I love spending time with friends and family. I love laughing. I love life, it is so good!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know that it is God’s true church on earth and it blesses my life each day. I know that I am a child of God and that because He loves me, He has given prophets to help me through this time on earth. The teachings, or gospel, of Jesus Christ that Heavenly Father has revealed through His prophets brings joy, hope, and peace into my daily life. My family have been members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for many years. I am grateful for the example of faith that my parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, great-grandparents, and great-great-grandparents have set for me. Throughout my life I have looked to their experiences to help me through my own hard experiences. Doing so has helped me to develop faith in Christ just like they had. I have gained a personal witness, that continues to be strengthened through every day experiences, that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He was a prophet of God and was an instrument in restoring a fulness of knowledge and power we need to prepare us to return and live with our Father in Heaven and Savior, Jesus Christ. Likewise, I have gained a witness through personal study and prayer that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Reading it helps me to understand and know my Heavenly Father and Savior as well as know how I should live every day to be happy. I love studying the Book of Mormon with the Bible and feeling the Lord's love as I read His word.

How I live my faith

I feel the best way to live my faith is by sharing the love I feel from God as I keep His commandments with everyone around me. I love finding ways to reach out to others, my brothers and sisters in my congregation and the community, and sharing what I can with them. I find that as I am more obedient to what I know I should be doing, I am able to serve and see others as God sees them. I try to live as the Savior did and each day I renew my dedication to doing as He would do in my place.
