Hi I'm Jared

My name is Jared. I'm a husband and a father of 9 - sort of. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in a family of nine kids and i told myself that i was only gonna have two kids. Well that sort of happened, my wife and i did have two kids together- but she also had seven other children from her first marriage. I'm glad that i have the opportunity to be apart of a large family again and wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm a restaurant manager which places me with all kinds of opportunities to share the gospel with co-workers. Since turnover is high, i get to meet a lot of new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member my whole life, but not exactly active the whole time. My "conversion" story acutally took place at the restaurant that i currently work at. I used to cringe at the thought that someone would ask me questions about religion- i would always try to change topics if religion came up. One day a cook found out that i was mormon and started firing all these questions at me. Of course i didnt think that i knew the answer, so i just looked dumb and said nothing. I went home to my older brother that night and explained the situation to him, he lovingly said "Those are easy questions to answer!" We talked about the four years i has spent in seminary -mostly sleeping through- going over the scriptures that i had learned there. I told myself then that i would never let anyone catch me off guard like my co-worker did. I began reading my scriptures again, this time learning what i was reading. My girlfriend and i went to the bishop to plan out our future. We wanted to be married in the temple so we had to clear a few things up from our past- The repentance process was amazing!!! We learned so much together. After we had finished reading the Book of Mormon for the first time together i felt like i was on fire! I wanted to share the gospel with everyone i came in contact with. No longer would i hide from the questions, but rather seek them out and help people find answers for themselves. I love this church because it makes so much sense to me. I love the fact that families are forever. Im so thankful for my savior and what he went through for me- so that i could could be sealed together with my family for eternity.

How I live my faith

In My church i am resposible for overseeing all the men 19 years and up. Its a lot of fun planning activities and instruction for everyone. Just this past week we helped move dirt for a community garden, part of a service project we volunteered for - nothing beats sweating for three hours- . I really enjoy serving in the church, It makes me feel like i can give a little back to the Savior for all he has done for me. Although i know i could never out give the Lord i can have a great time trying. I try to be an example to all those around me. Another responsibility that i have is a home teacher- i get to go to some great family's homes and teach them what the prophet has in mind for everyone for the month. In addition to that i make sure that they are taken care of spiritually, physically, and temporally. Its a lot of fun meeting people and watching them grow closer to God.
