Hi I'm Liz

I've been a Mormon most of my life. I grew up in the church.

About Me

I am currently a full time student in college studying elementary education. Before, I always dreamed I'd become a vet. I love animals and I felt connected to them more than people. But through life's journeys, I've discovered that children intrigue me and I want to be a good role model for students who are growing up in this scary, everchanging world. Other than school, I am a very energetic person and I love to spend time with family and friends, to be able to bond more and create lasting relationships through service. I am a very artistic person and have many hobbies, including drawing, painting, writing poetry, and playing music on my alto saxophone. I also enjoy studying cultures. The ones that fasinate me the most are the Spanish, Irish, German, and Asian cultures. I took four years of Spanish in high school and I continue to practice speaking it with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the day before I turned nine. It is a custom for a child born in the church to have the opportunity to choose baptism at the age of eight--the age of accountability, the point in time when one knows clearly the difference between right and wrong. I was very happy with my decision, I knew I was doing the right thing in following the example of Jesus Christ. I can still remember the day of my baptism. I was dressed in white and I was standing in the middle of a room surrounding by the people that loved me. Everyone was smiling down at me and I couldn't help but smile back. I knew I was making a covenant with Heavely Father to strive to be the best me I could be.

How I live my faith

I always feel at peace when I am at church or doing an activity that invites the Spirit. Service to others especially invites these uplifting feelings. I feel happy when I am relieving the burdens of others because I know how difficult life can be at times, and I feel so grateful for a friend at my side. I currently do not have any church callings but I previously helped teach the children in primary. Later I was called to be a second counselor/leader in the nursery which is for children under three years of age. It was a wonderful experience caring for and teaching the children I came to love and appreciate.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Liz
Faith is a belief in what is unseen but which is true. Faith is like a seed because it needs nourishment in order to grow. A seed needs soil, water, sunlight, and air in order to sprout and become mature. These elements are keys in keeping our faith strong. Faith is power and in order to become strong as individuals we must put action behind what we know is right and true. Show more Show less
