Hi I'm Kerry

I grew up in Southern California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom of two grown kids and I have five grandkids. Being a grandma is great! My husband passed away a few years ago. We were married for 38 years. I love to garden and spend lots of time visiting unique garden centers and growing new plants in my garden. I work full time in a school district and I enjoy serving in the Church. I look forward to retiring in a few years so I can spend more time with my grandchildren and more time in my garden. I'm thinking about going on a mission when I retire.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. I have always been active in the Church. My mom's ancestors heard the gospel from early missionaries in Denmark and came to Utah not long after the Mormon pioneers settled Salt Lake City. I love stories of pioneers, and I love to see the places in Utah where my ancestors lived. I feel a strong connection to them when I'm in the town where they lived. The gospel of Jesus Christ is part of the fabric of my life, and I cannot imagine life without the sure foundation the gospel gives me. It gives me direction and an understanding of my place in society and in the world. The gospel brings into focus all that I do. I know that God cares about me personally and guides and directs me as I pray to Him for direction. I am grateful for my testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and my understanding of its power in my life. I am grateful for a prophet on the earth today who gives us counsel so that we may enjoy peace and happiness in our life.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the Church. I have worked with the young children. I taught teen-agers in Sunday School for many years. I have worked in the women's organization of the Church. My work in public affairs allows me to meet people in my community and give service to my community through the great community events we have such as a teacher appreciation dinner, a choir concert with other churches, and work with the local park and recreation district.
