Hi I'm Christina

I am a wife and mother. I am a "Heart Mom". I am an Executive Director of a non-profit organization. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California and moved to Utah to go to College. I met and married my husband after serving as a missionary in Northern Virginia. We have three wonderful children with us and two angel babies (one late miscarriage and one stillborn). Our son was born with a congenital heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries that required open heart surgery when he was 5 days old. This was a challenging time for our family. As a result of this experience I was able to connect with other parents who have children with heart defects and we started a non-profit organization to offer support to local families whose children are going through similar circumstances. I have found great joy in service. I feel like I am doing the things that Heavenly Father wants me to do in helping others. My son is in grade school now. He is doing well medically, but will always be followed by a cardiologist to make sure that the surgery they did is holding up well and growing with him. I love to read, play board games, and do fun things with my family. I am hoping to be able to travel more as the children get older!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because the Holy Ghost has touched my heart and testified of the truthfulness of the gospel. As I daily live the principles of the gospel and try my best to keep the commandments, I feel joy and happiness. I see the lives of my loved ones and the benefit the gospel is to them. Recently I have had two adult family members be baptized and their families actively participating in church. It is hard to express with words the feelings and experiences we have had as a family with these conversions. I know my siblings lives are happier and they are feeling the blessing of the spirit greater in their homes and lives. I have read the Bible and Book of Mormon. I have prayed to know for myself if they are truly the word of God. I received an answer to that prayer. I know that both the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God.

How I live my faith

I love working with the youth in my neighborhood. I especially love going to Young Women's Camp! Young Women's Camp is a 5 day overnight camp out with the girls aged 12-18 and a number of adult leaders. We learn about nature, first aid, service, leadership, hiking, singing, cooking, gospel lessons and having lots of fun! I am grateful for an understanding of the Plan of Salvation. Knowing why I am here on the Earth and what I need to do to return to live with my Father in Heaven helps me in my daily decisions. I am trying to be more like Jesus. I know that I am far from perfect, and I am grateful for the forgiveness and love that I feel from my Heavenly Father. This last year and a half has been a trying one for my family with the death of many of our loved ones. In a short amount of time my father, grandfather, two uncles and a nephew all died. In addition, I had a son stillborn in the second trimester of my pregnancy. Many tears were and still are shed and at times the sadness of missing them and thinking about what might have been is overwhelming. But I know I will see them again. I feel peace and comfort in the knowledge that families can be together forever. I live my faith by trusting in God and Jesus Christ. I know that they love me and my family. I pray and ask for strength and help. Reading the scriptures and going to church gives me guidance. Feeling the Holy Spirit help direct my family has been a great blessing on my life.
