Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband of 40 years to the same woman. We have 2 boys and 2 girls and they have given us 8 grandchildren. I love the mountains of Colorado. My hobbies are grandchildren, fishing, bow hunting for elk, wood working, gardening, walking, chainsaws, power tools and returning to the temple as often as we can. I am semi-retired and do some private real estate investing to help make ends meet.

Why I am a Mormon

At age 23 I was not a member of the church when I met my future wife. I had never heard about Mormons while growing up. I believed the Bible, but was skeptical of the "other scriptures" like the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants. I was convinced when I had a personal witness from the Holy Ghost while studying the the Bible. We were married and then a year later we sealed our marriage in the Logan temple for all of time and eternity. I stay true to the faith for many reasons. First, I know will die someday and will meet God. This church teaches how to live and how to die. It teaches the Plan of Salvation from beginning, to what ever point in life we are now and into the life to come. It teaches the true nature of right and wrong and the power we have to choose. It provides guidelines and teaches how to choose well and not by force or blind obedience. The atonement of Jesus Christ is more clearly understood and taught in this church. I can use the priesthood of God to bless others that need God's help on the earth. I can receive priesthood blessings from others when I need it. The true nature of God, His Son and the Holy Ghost are not a mystery here. They are real as is their love for us.

How I live my faith

With very little religious training before joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I had much to learn. After 40 years I still have much to learn. I have learned much from discussions from my friends that are better readers than myself. I progressed with support from my wife and friends as the rest of our families are not members of the church. Our families neither support nor discourage our membership. We have become the center of the family as we are more organized and make people feel welcome in our home. We are temple ordinance workers and travel to the temple every week. This has increased our love of the Savior and His Father as we learn even more in the Holy Temple. I would not be the man I am today if I had not made this commitment to God and His Son Jesus Christ.
