Hi I'm Michael

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I didn't grow up as a Mormon but at 19 I became a Mormon. I now live in Colorado.

About Me

I have a family and all of my kids are going to college. I love sports and movies. My work allows me to travel a lot. That can be tough. But my family is everything to me. So I enjoy every moment I can get with them. I text the kids a lot. I actually get a response when I text them. Calls don't work so well. :o) My work allows me go to most places in the United States. But home is the 303.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was looking for more to life. At the age of 19--I felt like God had some greater purpose for me. So I began to look for something. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints taught life lessons that I believed. That God loved me and I was important to Him, that families are eternal, that Jesus was real and His sacrifice was for me and all of my friends. So I became a Mormon. I have found the Heavenly Father loves us enough to give us direction to our lives from the scriptures, prophets, the commandments and ordinances. The fullness of the gospel gives me peace and purpose to my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being kind to my family and friends. Nothing is as important than being a good neighbor. I am a Bishop in my congregation. So I get to work with so many people. While I have a lot of meetings to make sure the congregation is taken care of, my best times are the times spent with the teenagers. They are so fun and have such a pureness to them. They remind me how wonderful life truly is. The young children are neat as well. I get to see them each week and feel of their innocence and love. It is through the youth that I can feel the love of ths Savior.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Michael
When the Lord came to Peter, He simply said, "come follow me". Peter straightway left his nets to follow the Savior. Peter is a great example of how we follow the Savior. We don't wonder, "how much will I get paid if I follow the Lord?" No- we just follow the Savior-we serve without a price. Peter left his livelihood to follow truth. No one was getting paid for the services rendered. Nor should anyone need to pay for the services rendered today. So men and women today serve the Lord and their friends and neighbors by giving freely of their time and talents. We prepare ourselves so we can give service wherever we are needed. Currently, I am serving as a Bishop. Yes I spend a lot of time working with people to assist them with their spiritual and welfare needs. Because of good people giving of their talents, many lives are blessed without any price. The gospel is given freely--so are all ordinances given freely. I can't imagine the Savior requiring baptism and not giving it freely. it is because good men and women serve that the gospel is given without a price. with no price-there is no hypocrisy. We give and serve because we want to--NOT BECAUSE WE ARE MAKING MONEY. Show more Show less
