Hi I'm Katie

I'm a student, a wife, a bibliophile and a wannabe journalist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 year old journalism student at BYU. Last summer (in 2010) I got married to my wonderful husband in Washington DC. When not in classes, I love to dabble in art and read as many books as I can...particularly if they are old editions. I love all types of books from the essential Harry Potter series to the classics of Austin and Tolstoy. Give me a book and i will most likely read it. Growing up I was surrounded by old books and have now fallen in love with the idea of eventually learning to repair and restore them. This past summer, my husband and I were lucky enough to participate in a study abroad at the University of Cambridge. From my point of view, with libraries packed with old musty books and nooks to read them in, it was heaven. Despite the love of books and libraries, I love to go and explore the outdoors. Luckily BYU's backyard contains a large collection of mountain trails and climbs. Recently, I've also gotten into biking and have enjoyed the exercise I get from a commute I used to just drive. In other randomness I am a HUGE Doctor Who fan. Some what geeky I know, but still awesome. Well that's about it in a nutshell.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into the Church, I've had my own show conversion over the past two decades of my life. There has never been one exclusive moment of conversion, just a slow steady assurance of it's truthfulness. Mostly it's been the small things: prayers about things small and large answered, The peace I feel when reading the scriptures, the fact that no matter how many times I read the scriptures they always answer the questions I have at the time. This doesn't mean I know everything and that all my questions have been answered. I still have so many questions. As I've lived my life I've found that for every question answered another two come to mind. However, these things I do know. I have a Savoir in Jesus Christ. He is not just everyone else's Savior but my personal Savoir and Friend. Through Him and His atoning sacrifice, I can return to my Father in Heaven. This life is not simply and accident or random product atoms and molecules combining, but a plan with a purpose created by our loving Heavenly Father. He knows and loves us INDIVIDUALLY. Even through our darkest times, he is there beside us, encouraging us forward.

How I live my faith

I attend one of the many wards or congregation in Provo, Ut. I enjoy the interactions with the variety of people in our ward both old and young. They all come from different backgrounds with different experiences that have brought them to the Church.
