Hi I'm Desirae.

I was born and raised in Hawai'i. I love to read, write, draw, sing and spend time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Hawai'i. I am studying English so that I can be a writer one day. I love reading, writing and listening to poetry. I love to play the guitar and sing with other people. One of my favorite things to do is just talk to other people, listen to them, and learn about their lives. I love trying new things, except vegetables. My favorite sport by far is wrestling although I love all sports including volleyball, football, and have newly developed a fondness of soccer. My family is the most important thing in my life and working towards spending eternity with them and helping others do the same is what I strive to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the Church and the gospel are true. Both my parents were members of the Church when I was born but they are not the reason I am a Mormon. Though their testimonies have greatly influenced why I am a Mormon, they have always encouraged me to develop a knowledge and surety of the truthfulness of the gospel on my own. My testimony is simple. It is always growing through prayer, pondering and scripture study. I know that the Church is true and the gospel was restored for us in these latter days. I testify, with all my heart, of Jesus Christ. He dedicated his life to the service of our Heavenly Father and he atoned for our sins in Gethsemane. He died on the cross and rose again on Easter morning. I know that he is with us when we feel alone, misunderstood, or in utter despair. He felt all the pain and loneliness that we feel when he atoned for us. He is our comforter and has always comforted me when I needed someone. I believe in the power of the priesthood. I can testify of the process of repentance and that it is never too late to repent and cleanse ourselves. I have experienced the beauty of repentance myself. My personal conversion occurs everyday. It has not come in one grand epiphany but is confirmed when I study the Book of Mormon, the rest of the scriptures, the words of our Living Prophets, and when I pray about it. I know that by living the gospel and continuing to study its truthfulness, my testimony will grow even more.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by choosing the right at all times especially when it is most difficult. I want to live my faith so that everyone I come in contact with will feel the Spirit when they are near me and will recognize that I'm striving to be a disciple of Christ. I try to listen and follow the counsel of Church Leaders and keep the covenants I made so that I will be worthy to stand before the Lord at the last day. I want to get to the point that if I ever have to give a full account of my thoughts, actions, and feelings, I can stand before him without being ashamed of anything. I am far from being that person but I know that as I continue to study the scriptures, exercise my ability to pray, repent, and learn more of the gospel, I will be able to be that person. I try to be a disciple of Christ by serving those around me, making and keeping covenants, trying to be like Jesus and by going to him in moments of weakness. He is the foundation of our gospel and all that I believe in. I know that my testimony and faith will flourish by remembering him and trying to be like him.
