Hi I'm Jim

I grew up in Ohio. I serve in the United States Air Force. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Ohio and lived there until I served my mission. I was called to serve in the Sao Paulo South mission. After my mission, I lived in Utah went to school. During that time I met my wife on a blind date. We were shortly married in the Salt Lake Temple thereafter. We lived in Utah for about three and a half years. Then we had to make the tough decision for me to join the military. I now proudly serve in the United States Air Force. My wife and I now have 5 children and live in Nebraska. We love the area and family friendly atmosphere. When I am home with my family I enjoy spending time with my kids and playing games with them. I also enjoy playing soccer and going on dates with my wonderful wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon. It wasn't until I was older that I had a knowledge and testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. I always grew up believing the church is true and being taught that it is true. When I was 18 or 19 I was trying to make the decision of serving a mission for the church or not and if it was something I wanted to do. As I began to pray about this decision, I had a strong desire to read the Book of Mormon. I read and read the Book of Mormon. I just couldn't put it down, so finally I made the decision to serve a mission. While I was in the Missionary Training Center I really wanted to put the prophet Moroni's promise to the test and truly ask if the Book of Mormon was trueor not. I prayed and read nothing happened. I prayed some more and read some more and nothing again. Finally, I told Heavenly I wasn't going to stop praying until I got an answer to my prayers. I then got down from my bed and went to open the Book of Mormon and as soon as I opened it I felt such a great power from that book that it took me aback. The power was great and I felt a warmth and comfort. I knew from then on without a doubt the Book of Mormon is true. By knowing the Book of Mormon is true, I know Joseph Smith is true and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. I am grateful for the Gospel and our Savior Jesus Christ. I know Jesus is mine and everyone's Savior, without Him I would be lost.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching my children the Gospel, reading the scriptures with them and praying. Serving in the military has given me many opportunities to be a witness to the Church and its truthfulness. I also serve as Bear den leader at my ward and enjoy teaching the boys new things. When I am home and have the chance to do hometeaching I am more than willing to serve those families. When I am overseas it can be difficult at times, but having fellow members around and the Gospel helps keep me strong and faithful. The Lord provides me with much comfort while I am away from my family.
