Hi I'm Emily

I enjoy learning about cultures. I love music. I spend a lot of my time teaching. Chasing children keeps me young. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a big cozy family as the oldest of seven kids. Hard work and rewards were emphasized, and I enjoyed it so much, I decided a big family was the way to go when I became a parent. It's still hard work with lots of rewards! My own five kids will hopefully look back on their childhood with a similar fondness. Music has always been an important part of my life, and my husband and I are now instilling that in our kids. We also like to be active and play. Our backyard is the place to be most of the year; even our baby now gets excited if anyone opens the door to go outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I need the sense of direction and security that being a follower of Jesus Christ provides. Because we have lived in many places, often far away from family, I have had major difficulties that had to be endured without parents or siblings nearby to help. Being a member of this Church has given me comfort during these times, through the peace of an answered prayer or as someone who is also following Christ has come to my aid. All of my babies have been born in risky situations, and our family has often had to rely on others at these times. I appreciate being guided in the direction my life is going through personal answers from prayers to God and through studying resources God has provided, such as the scriptures. I know that we have a Heavenly Father who cares about us so much that he sent his Son Jesus Christ to provide the way for us to be happy and to know what we need to accomplish in this life.

How I live my faith

I find myself frequently teaching, both in my home and at church. By teaching concepts that I value, I learn more about myself while I sharing this knowledge with others. I try to stay focused on better ways to spend my days, using the Savior's example of service as my guide.
