Hi I'm Brent

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father. I'm a software engineer at a large defense contracting company. We build large satellite command and control and mission planning systems. I've worked on systems delivered to many countries around the world. I've been involved in the Boy Scouts of America for over 25 years, volunteering in many positions including Scoutmaster, Unit Commissioner, Assitant District Commissioner, Explorer Advisor, 11-year-old scout leader, Troop Committee Chairman, etc. I love to camp, backpack, ski, hunt. I've hiked many of Colorado's 14 thousand foot peaks. I love to serve other people. I'm currently teaching an early morning religion class to the seniors who attend Eaglecrest High School in Centennial, CO. These kids get up early every day and attend class at 6:00 am. I love spending 45 minutes each day with them learning from the scriptures.

Why I am a Mormon

It is a life style. It is a culture. It is a way to live that makes life GREAT! It is about families and helping others become their very best. It provides opportunities to serve others, to associate with awesome people and to have incredible experiences. The church also teaches of a perfect plan, a plan of happiness. It defines the purpose of life, and gives me a purpose. It is motivating, challenging, provides so many opportunities for me to share and to grow. I am a Mormon because I believe in the atonement of Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace, His grace. Without his life and love and atonement, we could never be saved or exalted.

How I live my faith

I serve where I am called. I try to magnify every calling I receive. Weather it is Quorum President, Bishop, Scoutmaster, Seminary Teacher, I serve and love those I've been called to serve. I live the gospel values. I strive to do the basics in my own home and teach the values to my children, not only through word, but more by actions. There is always something to do. It is tiring at times, but it is FUN!

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a witness of Jesus Christ just as the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are witnesses of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was the Savior of all mankind, and as such, there were those not living in the Holy Land that knew of him. They looked to him as their Savior and Redeemer. Though they lived the less law or the law of Moses, they knew that salvation only came in and through Jesus Christ. Because Chirst had "other sheep" not of the fold in the Holy Land, He went and visited them where they lived. The Book of Mormon tells of one a people living in the Americas who knew of Him, believed in Him and ultimately saw Him as he appeared to them following his death and resurrection. It is through the witness of the Book of Mormon that I better understand my Savior, His atoning sacrifice and His love for me and all mankind. Show more Show less
