Hi I'm Kate!

I'm an art teacher. I deal with mental illness. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated with a fine art degree from a small university. At times, I have been paralyzed by depression and am ever grateful the Lord has provided knowledge for advanced medicines.

Why I am a Mormon

In the Book of Mormon, the Lord stated, "I give unto men weakness that they may be humble." Incredibly, He then promised, "if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." (Ether 12:27) I have been both grateful for and confused by this scripture. How can weakness ever become strength? I can't do a chin-up; how will I ever be able to do many chin-ups?! I learned what the Lord meant from a Book of Mormon prophet. "O, my beloved brethren, remember the awfulness in transgressing against that Holy God, and also the awfulness of yielding to the enticings of that cunning one." (2 Nephi 9:39) My faith is steeled when I remember the bitter darkness of my sins. In no way do I want to feel those sorrows again. The peace and calm of my life is not worth sacrificing for any fleeting desire. I have been cleansed by Jesus Christ, who is the Light and only way to that peace.

How I live my faith

I serve my Young Single Adult ward by coordinate events as part of the Activities Committee.
