Hi I'm Genevieve

I'm a wife, a mother, and a piano teacher. I love my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've enjoyed living in various regions of the United States, including the West, the Great Lakes area, the Northeast, and the South. My biggest sources of joy come from my husband, my children, playing the piano, and creating. Creating for me includes sewing, decorating, crocheting, cross-stitching, painting, vinyl cutting, landscaping, and more DYI projects than I can ever finish! I also love to read and enjoy escape literature as well as the great classics. My favorite books are fantasy books (too many to list), Crime and Punishment, Jane Eyre, Left to Tell, The Hiding Place, The Jungle, and Bonds That Make Us Free. I'm currently reading Les Miserables, and have hopes to read The Count of Monte Cristo and A Tale of Two Cities within my lifetime.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful to have been raised within this church. That said, I am a person who likes truth. I would not have stayed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints if I did not believe that the doctrines of this church are true. I have prayed for myself to know of the truthfulness of the gospel, and I am grateful for the answers that have come. These are answers that I could not have invented. I am grateful to know through personal experience that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us as His literal children. I am grateful to know that the Savior, Jesus Christ loved us enough to condescend to a life on this earth and ultimately sacrifice Himself through the Atonement. I believe they love each of us no matter where or when we live on this earth. Christ set up His church when He lived on the earth. After the apostles died, the church was no longer unified. Many religions developed around the principles of Christ's church, but His original church was lost. I believe that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us as well as the people of Christ's time, and His church as been restored. Accepting these things has made all the difference in my life and I truly have joy because of my testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's church restored on the earth today. I believe He still leads this church and speaks to us through living prophets today.

How I live my faith

For most of my adult life I have worked with the children in our church. Recently I was given the opportunity to work as a humanitarian aid specialist. I have the opportunity to reach out within our community and join efforts through the church and other organizations to serve others. I will be organizing blood drives with the Red Cross. I will be initiating clothing drives for local charities. I will be looking within the community to see how we can best reach out in service to those around us. I'm excited to have this opportunity!

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe in the doctrine of grace and we also believe that we will be judged according to our own works. In other words, we could not be saved without the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We also cannot be saved if we do not utilize the Atonement by repenting of our sins and living a life that is in harmony with the teachings of Jesus Christ. The good news is that because Christ has atoned for our sins, we can repent and be clean, enabling us to return to our heavenly home. Show more Show less
