Hi I'm Starr

I was raised in the South. I'm married with l0 children and l0 grandchildren. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Georgia and lived there most of my life. I played a lot of softball growing up. I enjoy music and theatre. I have mostly been a "stay at home mom" until extra income was needed. I have been taking care of the elderly and a young man (I adore) who was in an automobile accident a few years back. My husband was in the military and afforded us the opportunity to travel over seas and out of state. I like meeting new people and seeing new places. I love to eat! Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! I love life and all that it has to offer. I have a magnificent family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not always a Mormon. I was raised in the Catholic faith. I have always had a belief in God and I know it probably stems from that. I was not raised in a very religious home. I had an older brother who had Muscular Dystrophy. I loved him very much. When I was l4 yrs. old my brother passed away. I wanted desperately to know where he was and if I would see him again. Life was still difficult and I found myself escaping through means that were not healthy. When I was l9 yrs. old two young fella's knocked on the door dressed in suit and tie. They asked me if I knew that there was a prophet on the earth?. I thought of Moses walking around Atlanta in a robe and sandals. I was single then and they were cute. I let them in. I remember feeling a special feeling when they entered the room. Something I had never before experienced. They proceeded to teach me about their church. I remember having a smile on my face that would not leave me. In fact, it seemed to hurt my face a little. When they left...that feeling went with them...when they returned...it returned. They taught me about the Book of Mormon and gave me one. Told me that if I wanted to know if what they were teaching was true that I could ask God (Heavenly Father) and I would come to know for myself. After many visits I realized that I wanted what these happy young men had. I decided to pray about it and I felt as if I were being lifted off the floor. The Holy Ghost witnessed to me that the Book of Mormon was true and all their teachings were true. I know for sure and I am blessed to have this knowledge. I was baptized and a few years later was able to do work for my brother in God's Holy Temple. I know he lives. I know I'll be with him again. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord's church.

How I live my faith

Since becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have had many opportunities to serve. I have had the sweet opportunity of teaching children from age l6 months to young adults. With each organization I have been able to help those in need. Just recently our church members traveled to Alabama and helped with some of the the clean up effort after all of the devastating tornadoes. I have been able to work in the Bishop's storehouse where food is distibuted to those in need. I have learned so much about the scriptures. I have been able to attend the Holy Temple and be sealed for Time And All Eternity with my family. I have been blessed to make and keep sacred covenants. I have enlarged my testimony of the truth and feel great joy in serving the Lord. He is the Author of Happiness. I am Happy.
