Hi I'm Kay

I grew up in Utah and British Columbia. I'm a grandma, and I teach high school English. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with a dream trip to Maine. We have five children and 20 grandchildren and treasure the moments we can spend with them. I love literature and am currently reading works of Thoreau, Emerson, and Longfellow. I have taught high school English for 14 years and I can honestly say I have never had a dull moment. I love my students and I love the subject. My husband and I enjoy traveling without a rigid agenda; we allow for off-the-beaten-path discoveries and serendipitous happenings. Life is an adventure!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a teenager, my father was called to be a mission president over young LDS missionaries. I wanted to be like the missionaries, so I challenged myself to learn the lessons they taught to their investigators. This required deeper research into the teachings of the Church, the Bible and the Book of Mormon. When I studied the part about the apostasy and collapse of the Church after Christ's death and of its restoration through Joseph Smith, I was filled with a testimony of its truthfulness. Through life's adversities, my Mormon beliefs have sustained me.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am a music leader for young children in our church. I teach songs about Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. I teach songs about the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I teach songs about the temple, Word of Wisdom, kindness, service, pioneers, Christmas and Easter. I also teach fun activity songs. I know how good music can be a powerful influence in these children's lives; it has always blessed mine.
