Hi I'm Gretchen

I'm an animal lover, a lifelong learner, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the second child of three children, and the only daughter. I grew up in a small town in southern Colorado. I earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in English, and now I work in publishing. I enjoy music, and I play piano and French horn (sort of... I played in high school and some in college, but haven't really played for the past 10 years). I have tried to teach myself guitar. I also sing with the Colorado Mormon Chorale. I enjoy learning about all kinds of different things, and I love to keep up with current events. I love to read. I love animals, especially my two cats. I've always had a connection to animals and have rarely met one that I didn't like, or that didn't like me. Life for me is kept busy with keeping up with my wide and varied interests. There is so much the world has to offer!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church, but it wasn't until I went to college that I really decided to figure out for myself if this was the Lord's true church. I spent a lot of time reading and studying the Book of Mormon and praying to know if this was the true Church. I have realized that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only thing that can bring me true happiness. I know that Heavenly Father knows and loves me and wants me to be happy. I love knowing that we have a prophet on the earth today that leads and guides the Church. Being a member of the Church has brought me such peace, even when times are difficult and I don't understand why things are (or are not) happening to me. Having faith in Heavenly Father's plan for my life brings me comfort.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings that have allowed me to share and develop my talents as I serve others in the church. I have been able to use my talent for music to help others feel the spirit. I have been able to learn more about the gospel as I teach others of its truths. And I have been able to reach out to and serve other people as I try to treat them as Jesus Christ would have treated them.
