Hi I'm Jacob

I enjoy reading, swimming, and programming. I like to play XBox. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the father of four beautiful children. I love spending time with my young family, going to the movies, taking walks on the great trails in the area, and wrestling at home. I like reading, mostly young adult fiction. I'm a web programmer professionally, but I enjoy it so much it is a hobby as well.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were Mormon, but as I got older I didn't stay Mormon because of them. When I was young I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to God, hoping to get to know Him. I did. I had feelings of peace and joy when I prayed about the Book of Mormon that I never felt before. I knew God heard and answered my prayers. Since then I've had many similar experiences, each one confirming my decision to believe in and follow God. Through these experiences I've come to know that the Book of Mormon is real and true. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. God lives. He is our Father. We are spiritual brothers and sisters. Jesus Christ atoned for our sins so that we might return to live with God. Families can be together, forever. And this life is about so much more than what we generally realize.

How I live my faith

Our family reads from the Book of Mormon or the Bible every night before bed. The kids are still young, but they do a pretty good job of listening if we explain what the scriptures mean. We pray over our meals and before bed, and we are trying to teach the children to pray by themselves. I really want them to get to know God as I did when I was young. I really enjoy working with the youth of the church. I think I'm still at that maturity level, so I get along well with them. Right now I get to teach sunday school lessons to the 8-10 year olds. And I'm the cub master for our cub scouting program. I also watch over a few families and visit with them every month. On a personal level, I still have a relationship with God. I talk to him most mornings and nights. And I try to read the scriptures personally regularly. I'm happy living the way I know God wants me to live.
