Hi I'm Amber

I'm the oldest of nine kids, a mother of a 3 week old baby girl, and a Marine Wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old and a wife of two years to a LCpl in the United States Marine Corps. While he is deployed I am staying with my parents with my baby daughter. I love reading and writing, and am in the middle of writing a fictional novel. I also go to school online.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but into an inactive family family. However, the Young Women and Young Women's leaders were wonderful, and through them I learned the importance of the Church. I was blessed enough to have good friends who shared my values and who helped me build my testimony, and one night when I was 14 I knelt in prayer and asked Heavenly Father if this church was true. My prayer was answered in a way I could neither ignore nor deny, and since then I have never doubted the importance of the Church. I have strayed from time to time, but because I know of the fullness of the Gospel, and the importance and saving nature of the Atonement, I have always managed to make my way back. The Church is the most important thing in my life, and it always will be.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Pianist for the women's meeting. Before that I was the Pianist for the children twice, and before that I was the Assistant Ward Chorister and the Laurel Secretary in Young Women's (at the same time).

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Amber
Usually people call the Church a cult in order to discredit it. However, the definition of 'cult' according to Webster's Dictionary is "A religion regarded as unorthodox." Some see it as unorthodox, but it's actually similar to other religions. Most people that I've come across that claim Mormons are members of a cult usually mean that we are members of an **occult**, which, by definition according to the Mirriam-Webster dictionary means "matters regarded as involving the action or influence of supernatural or supernormal powers or some secret knowledge of them ".
