Hi I'm Kristina

I am a mother of two. I volunteer locally teaching English to speakers of other languages. I love design and I am a Mormon.

About Me

For one reason or another, I have found myself moving around the United States on a regular basis. Growing up it was my father's job that moved us. Then, it was my college experience and serving a mission for the LDS church. Now, it is my husband's schooling. Moving has helped me become more independent and recognize that there are amazing people living all over this great nation. I studied American Sign Language in college. I love camping, cycling, digital scrapbooking, and anything adventurous. I am a mother of two small children and our family is living the "student" lifestyle for at least a few more years.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons. I grew up in the LDS faith and have experienced great joy through my own relationship with Jesus Christ and my associations with others who are trying to live a Christ-like life. In High School my core group of friends was close, but most of us were of different faiths. We hosted a 'Great Church Exchange' and spent about a month attending each other's sevices. It was a great experience and helped open my eyes to the beliefs of others. It also caused me to reflect on my own beliefs and the doctrines taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As I looked at my life I found that I was happy and that my happiness was directly related to choices I had made based on what I was taught in church and by my parents who are also members of the LDS church. I knew if I wanted that happiness to continue, I needed to continue in my commitment to Jesus Christ. I have always felt love and encouragement in the LDS faith.

How I live my faith

I believe there are times and seasons to each life. As a youth I lived my faith by making certain life choices and then sticking to them. I had been taught to keep my body healthy, to educate myself, to love and serve those around me, and to save for marriage that intimacy which brings new life. These choices never limited the number of friends or opportunities I had. In fact, quite the opposite happened. I made numerous friends in a variety of areas. My healthy body allowed me to participate in drill team, choirs, musicals, etc. My education allowed me to pursue academic interests and stay creative. I loved my years as a youth - I feel my decisions based on Christ's teachings laid the foundation where I can say that. As an adult, I live my faith everyday. Jesus Christ's life examplifies sacrificing for a greater cause. Instead of remaining single and satisfying my wants, I married my best friend and started sacrificing for him and his needs. He in turn sacrificed for me. We now have two children and the theme of sacrifice continues. While my husband pursues a doctrate degree in counseling, he also volunteers with the local Boy Scouts of America. He also give 2 hours of his time to caring for toddlers on Sundays so their parents can attend Sunday School and other services. I am a full-time mother and focus my time each week on raising children who will follow the example of Christ and be good members of society. I teach an English course each week as a volunteer to speakers of other languages. I also donate much of my time to serving the children in our local congregation.
