Hi I'm Lori

I'm a Mormon and a Star Trek fan from the beginning.

About Me

I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Russian language and literature back during the cold war. I have spent a lot of time studying Russia and visiting there. But I have spent even more time on Star Trek and the history of that universe! (Yes, I know it's not real....). I even was part of the letter-writing campaign to keep it on the air, back in the late 60's. I go to conventions (although I don't dress up), and read novels and have watched all of the videos over and over and still love it. Why? I would seek to live in a world where people get along, cooperate, have no poverty, no war, and can seek for their own highest potential. Sounds a lot like the gospel of Jesus Christ, to me! I am married and have 3 kids, and I have had the pleasure of sharing this interest with them, and now with the grandkids! My best friends are also interested in this hobby, so I don't feel like I'm the only geek around!

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to live by the teachings of Jesus Christ as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was in ninth grade in a church class when my somewhat doubting mind and heart were so touched by the words of my teacher, and the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, that I felt I was being completely wrapped up in the love of the Savior and felt my soul and mind expand with such peace and happiness that I can never deny what I felt: finding out that this was the true church of Jesus Christ, that Heavenly Father lives and loves me, and that Jesus is my Savior through the atonement, as well as the Savior of us all. This was knowledge sent from heaven just for me, on that day as a ninth grader, and I can never forget it, and want to cling to it the rest of my life.

How I live my faith

By following the teachings of the Savior, I have been blessed to help others, and receive help when I needed it in my life, through my "ward" (congregation) who act as my family. (None of our family live in this state.) I have tried to help in the community through Red Cross, Rocky Mountain food bank, and other ways of giving to the community. I always try to be an example of my faith, even though I know I am not perfect.
