Hi I'm Talisha

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student, studying whole health education. I have an undergrad in Psychology and a minor in music. I absolutely love music and art! I have 3 brothers and one sister. I'm extremely close with my family and enjoy spending time with them. One of my favorite things to do is travel, because it is an opportunity to learn about other cultures and experience the beautiful things God has created all over the world. I'm most passionate about helping others realize their worth and potential. I enjoy doing service for others and meeting new people. My goal is to use my education in health to help people reduce stress, gain confidence, and feel healthy and happy:)

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. I'm greatful for the teachings of the church and for the knowledge that I am a daughter of God and He loves me. I'm grateful for the atonement of Jesus, which has brought strength through trials, forgivenss of my weaknesses, and comfort. It allows me to continually become a better person day by day. I'm also grateful for the knowledge that families are eternal, and that life does not end here on this earth. The gospel influences my life daily, for the better. Some may say that Mormons have strict rules. However, I have not found the principles we live by to be constraining, but rather freeing. Because I keep the word of wisdom, I am free from addiction. Because I choose to live the law of chastity, I am free from hardships that comes from relationships that are not eternally committed; I have learned to control my physical desires, which has given me more self control in all areas of my life. Because I pay tithing, I am better able to manage my money and to bless peoples around the world with those means. As I have lived the priceples of the gospel, I have seen God's promised blessings take place in my life. I have come to learn that when I follow the commandmets, I have greater peace, more happiness, deeper confidence, and a strong desire to serve others and love them as the Savior would. I have a testimony that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored, inluding the priesthood. I know that God has a prophet on the earth, President Monson, to give revelation for our time. I know these things because I have lived them and have prayed sincerely about them. The feelings I have felt in my heart are undoubtedly a witness of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my daily interactions. Since actions speak louder than words, and I do my best to show my faith through my actions each day. In my church, I serve through being the choir director, inviting others to share their testimony through music. I am also a visiting teacher, in which I am assigned to three young ladies. This assignment changes occasionally. As a visiting teacher, I share a church message with them once a month, and assist with anything they might need help with. This is one way we are able to watch over each other as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Women are visiting teachers, and men are home teachers (assigned to 3 or 4 families). I absolutely love being a visiting teacher!! Through this opportunnity, I have enjoyed lasting friendships; lots of laughs; special, reverent moments; and great growth. Knowing that I am playing a part in watching over Gods special daughters has been, and continues to be, a great blessing in my life:)
