Hi I'm Derek

My wife and I are parents of 3 wonderful kids. I work in IT and love solving the problems I encounter there. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a kid, I moved around a lot and visited many countries and cultures. After graduating from college, I got a job writing software. Now, I work in IT. I love solving the problems I encounter there. My wife is a cancer survivor. Together we have twin boys who are 7 and a daughter who's 3, going on 13. We enjoy the challenges of parenting these 3 high-energy kids and we love them very much.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I want to return to live with God. I want to be with my family forever. I know that if I do my best to follow the example of my Jesus Christ, I'll have that opportunity. One thing that I know is that my Heavenly Father loves me and all of His children here on Earth. Feeling that love has greatly blessed my life. I know that He wants to bless me. When my wife was diagnosed with cancer, I sought the blessings that only He could provide. I know that the answers that I want aren't always the answers that are given, but in our case, they were. It was a long road, but we felt blessed. I knew that He was watching over us. We were well taken care of too. Our friends and neighbors were great. They helped by bringing over meals, watching our kids, mowing the lawn, and many other small things that allowed my wife and I to do those things that we needed to do. We felt blessed by our Heavenly Father through these kind acts of service. I'm grateful for a Heavenly Father who loves me. I'm grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ that can help me return to live with them again. I'm grateful for the blessings that I've been given.

How I live my faith

I have the great opportunity to work with the youth. It's great to see their enthusiasm and energy. They have a wonderful love for life. The activities and experiences that they have as they learn about the gospel also teach me how to be more like my Savior. It's exciting to see them learn and grow.
