Hi I'm Jared

I'm a medical student, husband and father of four. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a third year medical student with four children under 5 years old. I've been married for just over six years. I enjoy doing projects around the house. Just over a year ago we bought a house built in the 1950s. We have been able to totally redo the kitchen and build a pantry and laundry room. When I'm not studying or doing projects around the house I love spending time with my wonderful wife and children. We go to the zoo or children's museum or have a picnic in the living room and watch a movie. I also enjoy playing any kind of sports or competing in some way. Competition is what drives me. I compete against the day before to improve in every aspect of my life, whether it be the quality of my prayers, the love I show to my family or the amount of weight I can lift. I am someone who strives to be happy. With the love of a Heavenly Father and a Savior I have been able to hit the trials of life head on and battle to rise above them.

Why I am a Mormon

Life has not always been easy, but something that has been constant is the feeling I get when I'm down and feel there is no where to turn. I feel the warmth and peace of a loving Heavenly Father. I've known this to be the case from a very early age, as I was taught that I have a Father in Heaven. I've known about prophets and the truths that were given them from heaven. I've known about the priesthood that has been restored to the earth today and that prophets live today. That we can be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I've know that we have a Savior who lived on the earth, died and was resurrected and that he lives today. I've known that the fulness of the gospel has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I've known all of these things were true and many more as long as I can remember. What I didn't realize was that all of this is for me. That as God instituted his plan he did it with me in mind. He thought about how it would affect me and wanted the best for me. Out Savior came to take away the sins of everyone who will turn to him, but I feel in my heart that he did it specifically with me in mind. It has become more personal to me. I am not just another peon that has been sent the earth to fend for myself. God has me in mind every second of everyday and everything that takes place is for my benefit. I know he is there watching over me. I confess that I do not understand why certain things have taken place in my life, but the love I feel from above tells me that everything will be alright. I know its true because I have seen it be the case and have felt it.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each day by realizing that the choices I make are witnessed by someone. I want people to not be scared because I'm a Mormon, but to embrace the fact that I am a Mormon. Within the church I have the responsibility to ensure that the needs of the men are being fulfilled. I am able to go to there houses and serve them in any way that I can. This may come through sharing a thought about God, listening to a concern and providing support or by mowing the lawn. Fortunately these things are not just things I can do within the body of the church, but with all my neighbors and everyone I come in contact with. I don't want to miss any opportunity to make a difference in someone's life.
