Hi I'm Dona Lathrop Robinson

I'm a Mormon. I know it - I live it and I Iove it! I joined the church in 1952 and it was the great gift I could ever get.

About Me

Hi-I am a wife of almost 63 years and a mother to three sons and 2 daughters. My hobbies are doing family history and sewing. I have an embroidery machine and love to make beautiful thngs for family and friends. I joined the church with my husband at the tender ages of 21 and 24. We had a nine month ld son at the time. We met on a blind date and married a year later. I teach the Gospel Essentials in Sunday School and my husband has just been called to be the Sunday School Secretary. We have lived in Oregon since 1964. We served a three year mission at the Market Street branch in Portlnd and I served a 28 month Church History mission from my home helping members and non-members participate in the Familysearch Indexing progream.

Why I am a Mormon

In 1952, my sister and her husband were studying with the LDS missionaries. We really thought that was funny. When they were ready to be baptized, they asked us if we would let the missionaries come. When my husband found out that it wouldn't cost anything, he said sure. The first night they came, we knew the church was true. We would have a discussions-I would serve dessert and we would have another discussion and as we stood on the porch bidding them goodnight, we would have another discussion. These were the days when people could study for six months. We painfully waited six weeks and our missionaries decided it was time for us to be baptized. Eleven months later we drove to the Idaho Falls Temple (that was our temple district) and we were sealed for time and all eternity and our 20 month old son was sealed to us. It has given our life meaning and I am so grateful that we are LDS and we thank our Heavenly Father daily for this magnificent gift! I have a testimony and I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet today. I know that Jesus Christ is our brother and that God lives.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith each day. As I said before, I teach a class in Sunday School. For 25 years, I did income taxes as a volunteer during tax season for low income people. I have taught the youth in my past callings and I love to teach whatever the age may be.
