Hi I'm Scot

I'm a dad, a husband, a Coloradoan, and an IT professional. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married over 20 years with four children. I enjoy metal detecting and coin collecting. I also enjoy reading, fishing, hiking, and studying World War II history. I work in the IT industry and enjoy working and playing with computers.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been member of the Church my entire life. Both of my parents descend from LDS pioneers who joined the Church in the 1800s and migrated to the West with the early Church members. Growing up in the gospel was a great blessing in my life. The Church standards and doctrine gave me shelter from the storms that can batter teenagers. As I grew older I had to ask myself about what my parents had taught me and how they had raised me. I found out that the Church was true for myself, and then also served a mission in Germany to share the gospel with others there. One of the reasons I am a Mormon is the answers I find in the Church. Many in the world today are looking for answers to basic questions about their purpose in life, what is really important, and what to live for. I have found answers to these and many other questions in my life through the restored Gospel on the earth. I know that God lives. Through His Son, we can one day return to the Father. God speaks again to us today. Prophets have returned to the earth. We can also receive direct inspiration from God. God answers our prayers, loves us, and wants us to be happy.

How I live my faith

The Church gives everyone an opportunity to serve. I have been a Boy Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and a missionary teaching others in Germany. After a serious tornado struck a nearby community, we mobilized everyone to assist with recovery and debris removal.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

If you knew the cure for cancer, would you keep it to yourself? Of course not, you would share it with the world. The world suffers from many spiritual cancers, and the restored Gospel really does have the cure. We wish to share it with everyone who will listen. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Scot
The Book of Mormon is another source of scripture. It is like the Bible, written by ancient prophets. However, it is from a different perspective. It was written by ancient Americans who also believed in Jesus Christ and His teachings. It gives us another witness of Christ from a different continent. God loves all of His children, not just those that lived in the Palestine area. He provided prophets and apostles for other believers and they also kept records. Jesus told his Apostles in the Bible that he would go visit his other sheep. His visit is recorded in Book of Mormon, and is the climax of the book. Everyone who loves the Savior or wants to know Him better needs to read this book about Him and His other sheep. Show more Show less
