Hi I'm Stetson

I grew up in Denton Texas. I love music. I love sports. I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I am Stetson. Even though I was born in Utah, I spent most of my life in Texas and love it! I played Texas High School football and probably most the rumors about how intense it is are true. I had some scholarship opportunities to play in College but because of injuries in the High School arena, I decided to hang up my cleats. I also have a passion for music. I have played the bass guitar for about 8 years now and have played the upright bass for about 10 as well as sing. I started out playing classical but the moved to the Jazz band side in my 8th grade year and havent stopped ever since! I have played in various college and semi professional jazz groups as well. I went to college for two years in Texas and obtained my Associates of Science Degree in General Business Studies before accepting some Scholarships from Southern Utah University where I am currently a Junior going into my Senior year. I am Majoring in Economics and Minoring in Political Science. I have served as the Chief Justice of the Judiciary Council, as well as an Excecutive Council member for the Michael O. Leavitt Center for Politics and Publice Service at Southern Utah University. I am contimplating going to Law School when I finish my general degree. I love to try and learn new, exciting things and just enjoy the thrill that this life gives me!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and have had the great privilege and blessing of growing up in a home where Jesus Christ is the center of that home. My parents have taught me in the ways of the Lord and have always strived to teach me how to feel and be close to the Holy Ghost. But, like most children, I have not always heeded the counsel that was given to me. There was a time in my life where I thought that I knew better than anyone, what was going to be the best thing for me to do in my life. I thought that I knew the way to be happy, even though it was contrary to what our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ have taught. I, regretably, had to endure the emotional, and mental pain that came from some of the choices that I had made. But even though I had to pass through my own little Garden of Gethsemane, I also got to feel the indescribable joy that comes from the healing power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Just like the Apostale Paul wrote to the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 10:13, " There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will withe the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. All things can be accompished with God and Jesus Christ in our corner. From then on I promised to always do my best to follow Him in everyway. As I have come to know Him and feel His love for me, I have also come to see myself and my fellow men for all the potential that we have. How grateful I am for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for what it does for me everyday. I truly would be lost without it.

How I live my faith

I have had so many opportunities to serve in the wards that I have lived in. While I was growing up in the church as a youth (ages 12-18) I served in various leadership positions that have prepared me to be a leader in my communities and schools that I have been a part of. I have also served in various teaching and leadership oriented callings in my early adult years that have helped me not only learn more about the Gospel, but have helped me learn how to instruct and communicate with people. These chances I have had to served have pulled me closer to the Savior as well as helped me develop a strong love for my fellow men.
