Hi I'm Josh Phillips

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah in a family that wasn't always active in the church. I found my way. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the husband to a beautiful wife, and the father to three sons and one daughter. I support them financially by being a General Contractor. We support each other by spending time with each other. My hobbies are many, too many. The multiple hobbies that i enjoy prevents me from being really good at anything, but allows me to be decent at many. I enjoy playing all sports, whether it is my favorite - Football, or my least skilled - Golf. I love getting out and spending time with my family and friends being active and competitive. I am very introverted in large groups, but very extroverted in small groups. I can be very obnoxious at times, but very quiet at other times. My two favorite places in the world, other than home, is London and Hawaii. I served a 2 year mission in London, England. Since my time there I will always feel a deep affinity for that large city - it feels like my second home. Hawaii is a place my wife and I try to visit once a year. My wife and I both love the ocean - the warm, soft, salt water and the fun in the waves. We also love the laid back nature of the islands.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the LDS church because of my relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I was not raised from infancy in the Church. My parents did not become active in the Church until I was around 12 years old. My Mom was raised in a strong LDS family, but my Dad was raised is a very dysfunctional family. That disparity of upbringing between my parents, I believe, is the reason my siblings and I were not raised in the church until we were a little older. To a certain degree, I have seen that as a benefit to my life because I have seen both sides of the fence and how each side affects the family. Ever since I was young I have felt the Love of my Father in Heaven. When I was young I was insecure, yet I always felt special in the eyes of my Creator. He provided me many experiences where I have felt of His spirit, and his eternal love for me. As I have grown older I have felt of His love for everyone of his Sons and Daughters, especially those that I serve. Everyone can feel of His Love despite being a member of the LDS church or not, but I am a "Mormon" because I have prayed and asked my loving Heavenly Father if the Church is true. I have felt the Spirit many times in answer to that prayer telling me that the fullness of the gospel is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My testimony is that The Gospel of Jesus Christ can be found in many churches, but the fullness of the Gospel is found only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that my Redeemer lives. He is my Savior. He loves me and my family. He is where Peace and Joy are found. I love Him.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by first serving my family. My family has provided the greatest sense of joy for me in my life. I love seeing my wife and children laugh and smile. I love to watch my children be presented with a problem and make the right choice. I love to see the nurturing relationship between a loving mother and her children. In the Church, for the past 5 years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve in the Young Men Organization. My two favorite callings in the Church have been serving a full time Mission in London, England and serving the Young Men where I live. I have been blessed to feel the Love of my Heavenly Father for those that I serve. I love the Young Men, I love what they stand for, and I love being around them and feeling the Spirit that is with them. I love each and everyone of them and hope and pray for them. I know that they will go on and do many great things.
