Hi I'm Michael Barnes

I grew up in Rigby, Idaho. I love to work hard and have fun while doing it. I'm currently severing a mission, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the LDS church and it has changed my life for the better. My whole family and I are LDS. I have many hobbies they include: being outdoors, fishing, hunting, hiking, lifting weights, restoring old cars, and just being with friends. This may sound strange but I love to work. Maybe being raised up as a farm boy has something to do with it. I'm currently serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Carlsbad, California mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon? The only reason I'm a Mormon is because I want to be. Being raised in the church started me living right. But my parents never forced me to go. When I was baptized at the age of 8 I knew what I wanted to do. Being a Mormon is more than being part of a church. It's about becoming a better person through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His gospel, and being able to show your willingness to do so by keeping His commandments. The church also brings amazing opportunities to serve those around you, weather it is a calling in the church, or an opportunity to do service it is a great experience. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Growing up in the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints started me out living right. They have amazing youth programs that not only helps us to learn and understand Christ's teachings as found in the Old and New Testaments as well as in the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Also these youth programs help us to develope attributes such as hard work, service, humility, love, and diligence. They also give us oppurtunities to serve in the church allowing us to show our dedication to our Lord Jesus Christ. At the moment I'm serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Being on a mission is an amazing way to "live my faith". When I go outside people already know who I am, at least as far as religion. Hopefully when you see me you will see my faith because of the choices I make. The church also provides a great place where I can learn to teach others and be a leader. It helps me learn and grow an also prepare to live my life to the best of my abilities.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Michael Barnes
No we do NOT worship Joseph Smith. Jesus Christ is the head of our church, He is our Lord and our Savior. Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God in the year 1830 and through him Christ's true church was restored to the Earth. He was simply a tool in God's hands for the salvation of His children. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he did restore God's ture church to the Earth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that church on the Earth today.
