Hi I'm Jared

I'm a FIRSTer and a troper, a total geek and a brony. And, of course, I am a Mormon, and my profile is poetry.

About Me

There are two things you'll learn of me, should you take the time. I am unlike anyone else, and I'm addicted to rhyme. So here are things that make up me. Displayed in wondrous poetry. I really love math, science, and technology. And use art to release my creativity. Try as I might, I cannot right good prose. And yet, without stress, the poetry flows. Whenever I try to draw, it causes me strife, But on 3ds max, I can bring worlds to life. I love spending free time online, where I've many fun things to do. There are webcomics, ponies, and tv tropes, just to name a few. Music is a love of mine, of classic rock I'm a huge fan. But I most love electronic tunes that make me want to dance. And finally, I love to have good fun. If you need a good friend, then I'm the one.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but I'm not blindly following my parents by attending their church. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to find out if it is true, and I have come to know for myself that it is. I know that God is our loving Father in Heaven, and that Christ atoned for our sins. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and that he was a true prophet, just like Thomas S. Monson is today. I know that the gospel can bring joy to all who choose to accept it.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in Colorado, teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to all who will accept it. Yeah, I'd say that's probably the most important way I live my faith right now. But other than that, I pretty much just live my faith by always trying to do what I believe is right.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

We do what we must, because we can. For the good of all of us, even the ones who are dead. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Christmas and Easter are the only religious holidays we celebrate, but as individuals we also celebrate whatever other holidays we want. Personally, I tend to try to celebrate any holiday I can get my hooves on. So of course I celebrate holidays like Halloween (candy and costumes make it my favorite!), Valentine's Day (or Singles Awareness Day), April Fools' Day (another favorite of mine *evil grin*), Thanksgiving (YAY FOOD!), Independence Day (EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY!), and birthdays (the cake is real!). But I also like to celebrate some of the less well known holidays. There's Talk Like a Pirate Day, Wintereenmas, Towel Day, Pi Day, Tau Day, Mole Day, International Mustache Day, the Summer Sun Celebration, Winter Wrap-Up, Katanakka...And I don't mind that half of those may not technically be real holidays. They're real in my mind. Also, any other day that gets me out of school or work is good in my book. As for how I celebrate them...That depends on what random ideas enter my mind in the preceding weeks :) tldr - You've got a holiday? Let's celebrate! Show more Show less
