Hi I'm Whitney

I am a college student, an artist, a diabetic, a future missionary, a lover of the outdoors, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student studying art and business at Southern Virginia University. I am preparing to serve an LDS mission. I love the outdoors, the arts, traveling, learning about other people, and reading. I also love my country, and the great principles and history it's founded upon. And I love the gospel. (:

Why I am a Mormon

I know that the scriptures teach the truth, and I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers. I have felt the Spirit so strongly in my life, always when I am trying to come closer to Him and do what He wants me to do. I want the blessings that the scriptures promise - being with my family forever, and being able to live with Him again. I know it's only through repenting, being baptized, and following the Savior that that is possible.

How I live my faith

I try to live how Christ would want me to! I keep the commandments - the Word of Wisdom (look at the Mormon.org site for what that is) and the Law of Chastity and pay my tithing. I study my scriptures daily, and pray often. I try to strengthen my relationship with God, our Heavenly Father, and also with our Savior, Jesus Christ. I try to treat others as the He would have me. I serve in my callings and attend church and Institute.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

I have found in my life that the best way to increase faith in Jesus Christ is to learn more about Him, try to become more like Him, and to pray. As we learn about His teachings, His character, His great love and perfect attributes, we receive affirmations that His teachings are true. This comes most for me by reading about Him in the scriptures, especially The Book of Mormon and The New Testament. We can understand more of His great love for us and the reality of His sacrifice, and what He has to offer us. As we try to become like Him, we see and experience the joy that comes from service, from having faith, hope, and charity. We can feel the peace and strength that comes from developing Christlike attributes. This increases our faith in Him by making His teachings more personal. We need to take action on His words to affirm our faith and make it grow stronger. As we pray, we can draw closer to Him. The Spirit will show us how to apply His teachings more fully and personally into our lives. We will recieve peace, strength, and joy as we increase our faith in Christ. Show more Show less
