Hi I'm Jack

I was born and raised in southern Colorado. I am a Geologist. I am married. My wife and I have six daughters. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dad and the proud father of six beautiful girls. I am a geologist/hydrogeologist. I have my own business where I consult in groundwater and the petroleum (oil and gas) and mining industries. I like to be outdoors hunting, prospecting, exploring, metal detecting, and discovering new rock outcrops. My wife and I have built on to our house doing the finish work ourselves. I love to cook (bbq, grill, and dutch oven) meat and recently have been learning how to smoke meat. I enjoy doing these activities with my family. I love the western outdoor lifestyle.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) because my I chose to be. Being brought up in a home where church activity is the norm one must eventually choose for their own self a path that they should follow. I always have had a testimony of Joseph Smith and the restoration of the church but tried to ignore it at times in my early youth. I thought that I needed a heavenly experience as a witness. As a geologist, I am able to observe the wonders of the creation daily and know that there is a supreme being who has complete control of matter and the universe. I know that families are important, that children are waiting to be born, and that this life and all of its experiences are necessary for our well being. There is a greater plan than that of just existing to waste away and move with the ebb and flow of common humanity. This plan comes about through the atonement of Christ and his teachings while alive in Galilee.

How I live my faith

I have worked with the youth in the church. I enjoy teaching Sunday School and explaining the Bible, Book of Mormon, and other scriptures. I serve whenever or where ever I am asked to serve. I have taught little children to sing. I enjoy talking to others about my faith. I have worked with young men in the Boy Scout program. I have being on the Castle Dale City Council for two years and try to be active in politics according to my beliefs. My faith is very important to me in my field of science. It continually confirms the existance of a Supreme being and His hand in the creation of the earth and universe. He is a loving and merciful being.
