Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Physical Therapist for work, a backpacker and amateur movie maker for fun, a husband and father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I raised three children and we now have one granddaughter. We live in a small town, and like most people we struggle with the challenges of the economy and what should be the priorities in our life. One thing I really enjoy is backpacking in Colorado wilderness areas with friends and combining those trips with photography and movie making.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I wanted to know the truth. Is there more to life than just living and working. How does it all tie in to knowing who I am and my relationship to God. And I found out, just as in the Bible, there really are prophets on the earth today. And there is proof. I found out on my own. God did appear in modern days and restored his true church, with prophets and apostles, on the earth again. And the proof is the Book of Mormon. I read it and prayed, and found out on my own. It's true. And now through reading the Bible and Book of Mormon it is all so much more clear. Life can be difficult, but by knowing the whole plan of where I came from, why I'm here, and where I'm going, there so much more purpose and understanding of life. This is the true church of the Lord Jesus Christ and it is a great joy to be a part of it.

How I live my faith

A unique thing about our faith is that we do not have paid ministers. This allows us to serve in the church voluntarily and because of faith that it is the Lord's church. Positions are filled by members who are called by revelation. No one chooses what position they want to fill, but they are called by revelation from the Savior Jesus Christ, through those in positions to receive the revelations to call others into positions. Then each person serving in a position has the right to receive revelation to do their job in the church. It is the Lord's church and he is in charge. That is why we depend on revelation from him for all we do in his church. I am so grateful to know that this is Jesus Christ's church and he leads it by revelation. It is a tremendous blessing to be able to serve in his kingdom here on earth.

Are Mormons Christians?

We believe in Jesus Christ, it is the basis of all we believe. He is the Savior of all men, he is the son of God, and only through him can men be saved, because he atoned for our sins in the garden of Gethsemane and gave his live for all on the cross. We believe he is at the head of our church, he is the one directing it, it is his church and it bears his name. We end every prayer in his name. All of our teaching center on him. We strive to learn of him and become like him. We take upon us his name, to follow him and keep his commandments, when we are baptized, and each week when we take the sacrament. We follow the Jesus Christ taught in the New Testament. He is the Savior who also appeared to the people on the American Continent after his crucifixion, as recorded in the scriptures in the Book of Mormon. We believe all he taught in the New Testament, but also what he taught in the Book of Mormon and what he does now teach in continuing revelation to us. He loves us just as much as he did then, so he continues to guide us today. We don't wear crosses on the outside, because it is what is in the inside that makes you a Christian, and how you live your life. Yes, we are Christians to the ultimate since. Show more Show less
