Hi I'm Donald

I was born in a small town in Northern California and raised a member of the church.

About Me

I was raised on 30 acres outside of a small mill town in Northern California. I was home schooled until my parents got divorced when I was 14. I loved with my mom for the first three years of high school and then moved back with my dad for my senior year. After graduating high school I moved to Washington state where I met my wife. Shortly after getting married I joined the Air Force and have been in ever since. Military life has presented some challenges and I actually went in and out of the church for a long time. After much soul searching I have come to realize that my life always goes better and I am happier when I am active in church and doing the things that I am supposed to be doing as a member.

Why I am a Mormon

Starting out the answer was simple; because I was born into the church and grew up with it. But as I got older that no longer worked for me, and I drifted away from the church for some time. It took a while for me to realize that I was happier when I was active and involved with the church, and that I did not need a super spiritual conversion story to have a strong testimony. I really became involved with the church and gained the testimony that I have now when my wife was diagnosed with cancer. That is when I really started studying the gospel and the scriptures and it has helped me to develop my testimony. I know that the church is true and that by living the gospel we can achieve true happiness in our lives. I know of the blessings of temples and I am confident that no matter the outcome for my wife, as long as we remain faithful to the end we will have the opportunity to be reunited in the next life. I know that we have a living prophet in these latter days to guide and direct us if we will listen. I can personally attest to the power of God and Jesus in my life time and time again. My life has been protected more times than I can count, and I always receive so many blessings whenever I am living righteously. I also know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and provides another testament of Jesus Christ. It took some time for me to realize it but I have been very blessed to be a member of the church and to be relieved of the spiritual famine experienced by those lacking the gospel in their lives.

How I live my faith

I have not had much opportunity to participate in church activities over the last few months since my wife has been sick in the hospital, but I have had plenty of time to research the gospel and read scriptures and church publications, and I have taken every opportunity to share knowledge from those studies within my classes. I look forward to the time when I am able to attend my home ward regularly and take on home teaching assignments and perhaps a calling as the Lord determines appropriate for me.
