Hi I'm Robert Hammond

I grew up on a farm in Idaho. I reside in Colorado and am the owner of a utility consulting firm. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 59 year old man who grew up on a potato farm in Blackfoot, Idaho. After high school, I served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brazil. After returning from my mission in 1972, I obtained a degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. I then worked for a large public accounting firm and a life insurance company. I ended up in Colorado in 1990 and formed a utility auditing company which continues to be my occupation today. In 1973 I married my wife Pam, and we are the parents of 7 children -- 6 boys and 1 girl. Our family has grown to include 4 daughters-in-law and 8 grandchildren. My life has been full of family life -- coaching sports teams, serving in Scouting positions, attending school functions, going on family vacations -- never a dull moment! My family has always been and continues to be the greatest source of joy and happiness imaginable.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where I was taught early in my life about the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was taught about the young boy Joseph Smith, and how in early 1820 he received a visitation from God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I learned that this young boy was called as a prophet, and would become God's instrument to bring to pass the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it existed at the time Christ was on the earth. I cannot identify the precise moment in my life when I came to know all of this to be true. I believe it has been more of a process, a process which has included study, prayer, service, spiritual experiences and personal manifestations. But I can say without any doubt that I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth, that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of God, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (known by many as the Mormon Church) contains the organization, power, authority, additonal revealed scripture -- indeed the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

One of the 13th articles of our faith states: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men...... If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report, or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." Because I am a member of Christ's Church here on earth, I sincerely try to incorporate these principles into my life. I know I am not perfect, but I try to be a good neighbor and to help other people whenever I can. I try to to set a good example for my family and friends in all areas of my life, including my professional life, the entertainment in which I participate, and to truly seek after virtuous, lovely and praiseworthy items in my life. In short, because I am a disciple of Jesus Christ I try to be like Him and live my life with Him as my example.
