Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a husband, father, and graduate student. I spend time with my family, work, perform research, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Marriage to my wife is my top priority in life. I love the covenants we've made together with our Heavenly Father, and I enjoy discussing those blessings with my wife on a regular basis. I'm glad our children receive our full attention, for they are growing and learning quickly. I always enjoy learning, and I find that I can learn something from everyone. Reading and playing sports are life-long hobbies. Baseball, in particular, is my favorite sport. I have had good experiences developing new friendships and learning to appreciate differences in people's opinions and backgrounds. When I'm alone, I like to plan, organize, write, exercise, think, read, cook, and clean. Journal writing has been a fulfilling pursuit, too. It helps me keep a positive attitude, seek purpose in daily living, and remember important experiences.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know that the Book of Mormon is true. This book of scripture has brought peace, understanding, and purpose into my life. Daily study of the Book of Mormon has opened my eyes to Heavenly Father's plan of salvation for His children. I know that the Prophet Joseph Smith was called by God, with the priesthood authority given, to restore the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ in these last days. The Book of Mormon is evidence to me that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to me that the Book of Mormon is true. He has also borne testimony to my spirit that we are guided by a living prophet today, that the fulness of the gospel has been restored, and that the only true and living church is the Church of Jesus Christ, our Savior. He directs this, His church, by revelation through a prophet who was called and ordained by His authority. Through study and prayer, I've come to know that these things are true by the power of the Holy Ghost. I know that following Jesus Christ will lead me back to my Heavenly Father. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me true joy and true happiness in my life, and I know that by faithfully continuing in His gospel I will one day receive the greatest of all the gifts of God, even eternal life.

How I live my faith

Though a college student, I participate in my ward as ward misssion leader. I do my best to reach out to those who are unfamiliar with our beliefs. This calling allows me to work closely with the full-time missionaries in our area, and I correlate their efforts with our ward's efforts. Also, I seek to extend a hand of fellowship to all members of our congregation, whether they attened meetings or not. As a home teacher, I am assigned several individuals to whom I visit at least monthly. When I visit members of our ward in their homes, I get a chance to bear my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ to them. This allows me to feel the Spirit work in me as I seek to care for my brothers and sisters. On campus, and in daily life, I strive to live the principles I've studied and learned in the gospel. This often requires me to stand out in a group or classroom, but such experiences strengthen my faith and my desire to do what is right. I know I can always trust in God that things will work out for my good. Because of that knowledge, I am filled with hope and optimism for my future.
