Hi I'm Kelly

Im a runner, I love hockey, Im a missionary in South Carolina, and Im a Mormon

About Me

Im 20 years old, Im serving a 2 year mission in South Carolina. Before my mission I graduated from high school in Phoenix, Arizona and then went to community college for a semester. Im a runner, I ran track and cross country in high school and I ran the st. goerge marathon my first marathon with a time of 3 hours and 40 minutes. I love sports and playing sports especially basketball, hockey and football, I am very competative when it comes to playing sports, I am also an ASU fanatic. I was born into a mormon family, and I am so greatful for my parents for teaching me values and standards that i can live by and will help me have a happy life. I love my family soooooooo much, they have given me everything and I dont know where I would be without them and there love for me.

Why I am a Mormon

My family is and has been very active in the church all there life. Even though I grew up in the church and even went to seminary every morning during high school, I still really didnt know if the church was true or not or maybe I did but I just wanted to really find out if it was something that i wanted to keep living the rest of my life. My senior year of high school is really when I found out that this is the true church, after really engaging my self in church and with my youth group and then seeing all my friends who didnt have the gospel and didnt belong to the LDS church, either werent as happy as they could be or you could just tell something in there life was missing. so that led me to really think, and study. When I started going to church because I wanted to, not because my parents got me up every morning I started to notice a difference in the way I felt and also the truth of the things that I was learning in church and so I really came to the conclusion that this is the only true church on the earth, because nothing this good and this perfect could ever be false . I know with out a doubt that The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints is Jesus Christs one true church, the same church that he originally organized when he was on the earth and it has been brought back and restored again to bless us and our families (Ephesians 4:11-14) and to help us come to the unity of the faith

How I live my faith

Right now I am a missionary dedicating 2 years of my life to serving the lord and helping others come unto christ. I live my life according the the things I was taught in church and also what my parents taught me at home, living a clean life without drinking or smoking or any of that bad stuff, ive seen what it does to people and it destroys them. I try to live my life according to what jesus christ taught always striving to be better, even though I might not be perfect I know that as i follow the commandments that we have been given to help guide our lives that I will always be clean and happy. I treat people with the most love and respect as I possibly can, I choose friends who I can have fun with and who also have the same standards and morals as I do. I love being with my family they are the most important in my life, I have learned so much from them and they have helped me so much in times when I needed them most. It is so comforting to know they live the same way I do.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Baptism is necessary in order to enter the kingdom of god, not only is it a commandment for us to be baptised by immersion and by someone holding the preisthood but jesus set an example fo us to follow. Jesus walked 80 miles from gallalie to the river jordan to be baptised by john the baptist, because only john the baptist had the preisthood or the authority from god to do it. jesus wasnt baptised because he was a sinner obviously he was perfect but he was baptised because it was a commandmentfrom God. so like Jesus we need to be baptised by immersion and by someone who holds the priesthood, and that preisthood is only found in this church, because god restored it through the prophet Joseph Smith. When we are baptised we are making 3 covenants for the rest of our life and for eternity, that is 1 We promise to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ, 2 to always keep His commandments 3 and to serve Him to the end. As we make these covenants or promises, then God promises us that we will always have his spirit which is the holy ghost to be with us. that is why baptism in our church is the only correct way because it is done by the priesthood authority of God. How can I know Mormonism is true?

lots of people ask me the question how do you know what you believe is true? or how do you know that being mormon is the best? well my answer to that is because if you really look at the things that our church teaches and the values that we practice I cant see how it can get any better or more true than those things, but of coarse in order for someone to really know if this is the true church, they have to turn to god, because god has all the answers, he knows the truth and wants us to know the truth. we need to read the bible, but in order to find out if the mormon church is true we need to also read the Book of Mormon, because everything we believe is based on that book it testifies that the church of jesus christ has been restored in its fullness and that is The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. then you need to pray about the things you read about, The Book of Mormon, if Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. Then you need to ponder and carefully listen to the holy ghost which will testify to you if this is true. The answer might not come right away but it will come as you listen with your feelings and your heart. then you need to do as the scriptures tell us to do, that is to follow the commandments and make good choices those will help you find the answer faster and will allow the holy ghost to speak to you. Then if you have feelings of peace, comfort, and joy in the things you read about and pray about then you will know that this is the only true church Show more Show less
