Hi I'm Jeff

Grateful for the adventures of life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and fore most a father of five beautiful and blessed children (coed basketball team of two daughters and three sons) and three grandchildren from our oldest daughter and her terrific husband who help me remember what it was like raising children! In less than a year three of our children have recently been married. All have been married in one of the beautiful LDS temples where a couple can be sealed for time and all eternity. I am recently retired from a rich and rewarding career working for one of the largest aerospace companies in the world which helped me appreciate the magnitude of the creation by our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I enjoy the out doors with a passion for golf, skiing, and mountain biking in beautiful Colorado!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with golf as my religion and attended the University of Colorado to become an architect. Changes in the architecture program lead me to switch to Civil Engineering. My Junior year was a major transformation in my life. Having walked the "fence line" of life with no interest in religion (felt it was a crutch for those who were not happy) but know interest in drugs and alcohol - -just living and going to school. One day after walking out of the door of the University Memorial Center a building "beaconed" me through all of the trees. Having some time, my curiosity got the best of me and I walked over to the building. Once inside a dear lady asked the "thousand questions" of me (long hair and choker beads). She invited me to church and after running out of excuses I promised that I would come in three weeks. Time passed quickly and I decided to keep my promise and attended church for the first time in several years. Not sure what I felt and considering at the time I had nothing to do with my birth, what would happen over the next 70 to 80 years and then dying - I decided to delve into the "why religion and purpose of life". Preparing to be an engineer, I got my trusted graph paper out and created a matrix of the various religions (including eastern religions) and went about my quest. After filing the matrix out I decided upon analyzing the date that I would engage in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since it promised me the most after this earth life and required more of me during this earth life. My rationale was simple - If it was not true in the end I could be no worse off than anyone else of any other religion based on the type of life I led. Now some 35 years later I can look back and with gratitude in my heart - thank my Heavenly Father for giving me the opportunity to raise my family with the center piece of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

One of the greatest aspects of being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways. Some examples that have blessed my life include callings through the years teaching and working with every age group of our children and young adults. Working with the young men through the Boy Scouts of America has been a tremendous blessing to see them succeed through the difficult teenage years. High Adventures in scouts have been highlights that created a love for the outdoors and the marvels of the earth's creation. I have been blessed to teach adult Sunday School where I am sure that I learned more than the participants! Another highlight was the opportunity to serve as a missionary for two years in London, England. I served with Douglas A. Smith who's father was a prophet of the church as well as Robert D. Hales who is presently an apostle in the church. These fulfilling years enabled me to lay a solid foundation which has blessed me in raising a family, fulfilling my church callings, and enabling me to accomplish my career dreams! Like you, I have been challenged with numerous health issues like cancer and other life threatening experiences but through Priesthood blessings and exercising faith I have been able to overcome these challenges and enjoy the sweetness life has to offer! Today I get to serve in the temple and support family history activities which have given me the vision of the eternal nature of mankind.
