Hi I'm Nicole

I joined the church at 15. I'm the only member of my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a good family. I went to a non-denominational church when I was young. Because of that I have always believed that there is a God. When my parents divorced I became confused and angry. I attended other churches searching for answers, not finding them. I hung out with people that were as confused and angry as I was. Through my searching I found a girl, a Mormon. I didn't know what a Mormon was at the time but we became quick friends. I was impressd by her family and how they treated eachother, the close relationships they had. I was curious to know more. After convincing her that I actually wanted to go, I attended church with her and her family. After that first Sunday there was no question, I wanted to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Through this friend, her family and other close friends who were members of the church I was baptized at 15. I went to a church college where I met my husband. We married in the Seattle temple and have 2 beautiful little girls.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a member of this church because the situations that I was facing in life confused me. The God that I was taught about as a child and the God that I thought I knew then didn't seem that great because of the things that He was allowing to happen to me. I was mad at Him for ignoring my pain. I found a group of people who showed me That God has a plan for us. When I started asking questions about the church and learning about the true God and why we face the trials and challenges we do it started to make sense. It all made perfect sense. I loved learning how families can be together forever and how we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. It was the importance they placed on the family that really touched me. Becoming a member of this church didn't make my life easier. I still face hard things and I still see horrible things happen to good people. But through the gospel you see a little more clearly, a little more eternally. All these things are for our good. Heavenly Father tests and tries us because he loves us. He wants us to be refined, to build our strength and our faith. We have to experience the bad to know the good in life. We can endure all things with His help. I learned that when my life seemed so very rough back before I knew about the church and I felt abandoned by Him that he was ALWAYS there, always. I just needed to ask for His help. Not to take away the trial, but help to understand and endure.

How I live my faith

All any of us can do is to try our best. This life is for us to learn and improve ourselves. The organizations of the church help us to do that. As members we are put in charge of many different things in the ward. The things we are asked to do isn't always what we are best at. But as we serve and rely on the Lord, He strengthens us. This is how I live my faith. By relying on the Lord and knowing that I can do anything that is asked of me as long as I put my faith in Him. The challenges that life brings are there to bring us closer to our Heavenly Father. Because we can't make it through all the rough patches of life without the help of our Savior.
