Hi I'm Don

And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 4 and a grandfather of 3 and 2/3 (grandson due in October). My wife and I have been married for almost 47 years. We were married and sealed in the Temple of the Lord for time and all eternity. I am a former manager with a class I railroad and have been self employed for about 11 years. At this time I do not have any plans to retire, I really enjoy working from my home. Being self employed and working from home gives me the flexibility to devote time as I choose to my famly and to Gospel study and service.

Why I am a Mormon

I met my wife in high school, we really did not get along. She was life long member of the church and I was a party person. We did not have a lot in common. She went to BYU and I went to an in-state college. We got together when she returned from her first year at BYU. She introduced me to her family and took me to church. I met with the missionaries and liked what I saw and heard. Her dear mother and my future mother-in-law was my real inspiration. She loved me enough to teach me about prayer and that prayers are answer. She would always have a prayer in her heart. She very lovingly answered my Gospel questions. She helped me realize that I was special, not just to her, but to my Heavenly Father. She helped me to know that Jesus Christ loved me so much that He atoned for my sins--she helped me to understand this great sacrifice. I came with faith that there was a God and that Jesus did live and die for us all. With her help, I started on the road to my personal knowledge and testimony that Jesus does live, that he did appear with Heavenly Father to a young boy named Joseph Smith and through him restored the true and everlasting Gospel in this the last dispensation of time. With her inspiration, I was baptized, my wife and I were married in the temple and I have spent my life trying to live as the Lord would want me to live. The Lord has given me many opportunities to serve in many callings over these 48 plus years and each calling brought with it blessings, but more than blessings, a stronger and stronger testimony of His plan of Happiness and my place in that plan.

How I live my faith

I have a strong testimony that membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints is not just belonging to a religion, but a plan for how I should live my life. A life of service that would follow in the example of the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. At this time I am serving as a Counselor in the Stake Presidency. This calling has provide me with many opportunities to serve members and non-members in our stake. I am working very hard to follow the example of our wonderful leaders in increasing my ability to show forth love and charity to all I meet. To me this is a measure of my closeness to the path Heavenly Father would have me trod. As I work on my goal, I find it easier to share my beliefs with others because I am finding that as I am able to feel that great love and as I feel it for others, I have a great desire for them to have the joy I have found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
