Hi I'm Shelly

Because of the example of good friends, I was baptized into the Church at age, 32.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom with five children. Only three children still live at home. I love to volunteer at school, exercise, bake and enjoy all things related to music.

Why I am a Mormon

My husband and I had recently started dating when we became friends with my apartment managers. The husband was a student and they had two small daughters. They fellowshipped us, and invited us to many activities in and out of the Church. By their friendship and example we became curious as to their beliefs. Shortly after my husband and I got married, we moved across town. Our friends asked my husband and I if we would be interested in taking the missionary discussions. My husband agreed. I didn't know "we" were looking into the LDS Church for ourselves. After the first month of discussions, lots of scripture study and prayer, we were baptized. I didn't realize before this that I was missing something in my life. I was comfortable where I was, and yet I needed more, but didn't know it. I was able to receive answers to questions about who I was, where did I come from, and would I see my family after this life? These past 17 years have been such a blessing in my life. I have a greater understanding of what my Heavenly Father believes I can be. I have peace and strength, guidance and hope. I am able to raise my children with knowledge that I didn't have as a child. I am forever grateful for the upbringing I had and for my Christian parents, but now I can offer my children more. I love my Heavenly Father and I know how much he loves me. I see and feel his love every day. I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ and for his magnificient sacrifice.

How I live my faith

I have the privilege of working with the Young Women at Church. These girls range from ages 12 -18. I learn from them all the time. My calling in working with these girls has made me study the scriptures more, be a better example and to have a desire to help them meet their short and long term goals in life. I too have set some goals for myself and by working toward them, I can encourage the Young Women along the way. The Gospel of Jesus Christ helps me to want to be the best mother and wife, too. I am constantly reminded of how special each person in my family is. We are all a spirit child of God's. I have been blessed to have stewardship over my five children. Heavenly Father has entrusted me with them. And, to know that I can be with my husband and children forever is amazing. I couldn't ask for any greater gift. I would hope that my friends and family see a difference in me - each day. I continue to change and to become better. I know that that desire and strength comes from my Heavenly Father.
