Hi I'm Becky

I grew up in California in a wonderful family and now I have one of my own--me and my 2 kids! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a single mother for 3 years now, but because I live with my Grandpa, I still get to stay at home with my little kids. I feel very grateful for that for I love homemaking and nurturing my children. I've always Ioved running, but I started long-distance running 2 1/2 years ago and have found in it the great metaphor of my life--slow down the pace and you can go farther and accomplish more than you ever thought possible! I got to serve a church mission in Switzerland and get a Masters in Education. I love teaching, cooking, dancing, listening to music, going to plays and dollar movies, spending time with my friends and family, and learning about and living my religion. I have plans to travel, learn how to fence and hang glide and hip hop, and someday serve another mission. When I think of the future or how to describe myself, I picture a country cottage, muffins baking, kids crocheting socks for the homeless. But then the scene switches and I see something cruising down the street, music blasting, kids dancing in their seats. So I'm something in the middle of all that!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon, but my parents encouraged me to know for myself that it was true. I remember reading The Book of Mormon in high school, praying about it, and then feeling flooded with His love. I knew it was a book from God and that I wanted it in my life forevermore. Since then I've had many more confirmations that the true gospel of Jesus Christ is found in this book and this church. It makes me terrifically happy.

How I live my faith

I love feeling His spirit in my life--it softens my scars, guides my choices, illuminates my future. I want that always. That's why I fast and pray, go to church meetings and the temple, study and try to apply the words of living and ancient prophets, and repent continuously. It's through these measures that I feel I spiral upward, gaining more peace, hope, and joy as my life progresses.
