Hi I'm Amanda

I am a teacher and a newlywed. I love to read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a fourth grade teacher. I love teaching because I feel that I am making a difference in the lives of wonderful children and I have the opportunity to learn something new every day. I truly believe in Christ's saying that we must develop the qualities of a child in order to be our best selves. My family moved a lot when I was a child and I had the opportunity to experience many different cultures in the USA. I love reading all types of books and watching movies. I was married in 2010 and enjoy spending time with my husband and extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel leads me to be a better person. I am happiest when I am following the teachings of our church leaders and striving to follow Christ's example. I feel at peace when I know that I am doing what is right. I value the support and friendship that I have in fellow church members. The gospel gives us hope and comfort in difficult times.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to always remember Christ. I try to pray daily and express my gratitude for the good things that happen in my life. I read the scriptures and seek to understand how their lessons apply to the circumstances in my life. I love attending the temple and feeling the special spirit that is there. My husband and I teach teenagers each Sunday at church. We teach gospel principles and stories from the scriptures and encourage our students to apply these messages into their lives.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Amanda
We live in a beautiful world that God has created for us. The more I learn about our world, the stronger my testimony of God becomes. As I spend time with the children that I teach, I see their strength and simple faith and know that there is a God who blesses us with children so that we can learn to be more like them and prepare for eternal life. What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

Amanda
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints help people around the world and in their own communities. During times of disaster, the church has donated food, water, medical supplies, and hygiene items to those in need. The aid is given to anyone in need, regardless of religious affiliation, ethnicity, or nationality. Volunteers also help those in need to clean up and repair any damages. Church members help in their own communities by voluntarily participating in service projects. Many members donate part of their income each month to be used to help those in their ward who need financial assistance. The Church has many programs that help people to increase their education, provide for their families, and develop self-reliance. We believe in helping each other through the challenges that life can present. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Amanda
We believe that men and women are both greatly valued in the eyes of God. Men and women should treat each other with respect and support each other's individual and mutual goals. Mormon women place a great value on their family. They work with their husband to teach and protect their children. Husbands and wives work together as equal partners in making decisions that will affect the family. Mormon women like to have fun! We love to laugh, tell stories, spend time with friends, and many other activities that typical women enjoy. We frequently have church activities where we learn to develop our talents and increase our skills. We do our best to make sure that we are using our time in a way that will help us to become a little better each day. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Amanda
We believe the Bible to be the word of God as long as it has been translated correctly. The Bible gives us additional accounts of Jesus Christ's birth, life, and death. We learn important examples of faith from those who followed Christ's teachings during different periods of time throughout Earth's history. The Bible has many truths that inspire us to live better lives. The accounts in the Bible were written by faithful men that were inspired by God. The words in the Bible are still relevant to us today. Show more Show less
