Hi I'm Brigette Bowen

I 'm a musician, a Chemical Engineer, a child at heart forever, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am studying Chemical Engineering at BYU-Provo with a music minor. I love music! I play several instruments and sing. Some of my favorite memories from High School come from being in marching band. I love to draw, read, and play sports. Being outside with God's creations makes me happy so I love camping, fishing, hiking, singing in the rain, etc. I like fixing things if I can figure out how they work; I also like building things, especially if I get to use power tools. I am the second oldest of 4 children in my family. I love spending time with all of my family. I love playing games of almost any kind. I grew up moving around the US since my Dad is in the Air Force. I just love to learn and experience new things. I am also currently engaged to marry my best friend. I can not wait to be joined forever with him by being married in the Temple and have the Lord seal us to Him throughout eternity! Family is so important to me and I look forward to beginning my own family with my eternal sweetheart.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up having the gospel in my life, and I attribute everything that is good in my life to my Heavenly Father, my Savior Jesus Christ and my commitment to live His gospel. Growing up in the military we moved usually every 3 years, and some times more often than that. The two anchors in my life, that made moving such a wonderful experience for me were my family and the Gospel. No matter where we moved we had friends because we knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same no matter where you are in the world. We had that familiarity and the loving support of fellow-saints. I have had trials in my life like everybody else, but all have been manageable as I work hard to keep my faith in the Lord and live by His teachings. I have found more strength and love than I can express as I have lived the principles in of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints from the scriptures and teachings of modern prophets. My testimony has grown as I have kneeled in prayer on countless occasions seeking peace, joy, comfort, and or direction from my Heavenly Father. And even though sometimes I don't receive what I think should be my answer, I know that the Lord hears my prayers, and He has answered them in His way and His time, but always I have received an answer. Much of my testimony has come from my daily scripture study. I know that I would never have been able to be so successful, if I had not shown the Lord that He was first in my life by dedicating time every day to study the word of God. I know that all of my happiness comes from doing my best to live the way the Lord wants me to live and as I strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I know that you and I will be happier by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, than if we live our lives any other way, and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in the little things each day. I strive to begin every day by talking with my Heavenly Father through prayer, and being filled with the spirit as I study the scriptures. When ever I am struggling to be happy or at peace with life I turn to the scriptures. I have several favorite verses in the Old and New Testaments as well as the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Reading the word of the Lord helps me keep eternal perspective and reminds me how each of us are loved children of God. Through out my day I search for the hand of the Lord in my life. One of my favorite parts of my day is writing in my journals each night. I take time to record the events of the day, but more importantly I take time to recognizes the miracles my Father in Heaven blessed me with that day. Sometimes these miracles are as simple as staying awake in class, or finishing my homework on time, other times they are on a grander scale. The Lord is constantly helping me throughout my day and I try to recognize that and thank Him for all of it. I do my best to live my faith in every thing I do and say. I hope those who know and meet me can see the light of Christ through my eyes and feel their Savior's love as they interact with me. I love opportunities to serve others whether I'm helping someone move, or just listening to a distressed roommate. I feel so much happier when I'm not focused on myself, but am searching to lift those around me instead.
