Hi I'm Jon Scott

I'm from Chicago. I'm an avid mountain biker. I believe mountains are sanctuaries. I choose every day to follow Jesus Christ.

About Me

If you enjoy cold mountain air whipping by you as you fly down your favorite single-track...or are thrilled by a challenge to ascend great heights...or love being with your family and friends...we'd get along great. Mountain biking is my passion. You know how people have that thing they want people to say about them when they die. Well, here it is: He loved his God, his wife, and his family. He was the best of friends; always there when you needed a hand. He worked hard every day of his life. Put that guy on a bike and he'd eat hills for breakfast, scarff down rock gardens for lunch and take whatever was thrown at him for dinner, then beg for more. I also enjoy: -Music! Especially: Death Cab, Twenty-One Pilots, Strokes, RHCP, Pink Floyd, Modest Mouse, and the list goes on! -I enjoy living on the edge. I guess you could say I am a thrill-seeker. -The smell of burning wood, or fireworks. So good! I cannot, however, stand to inhale smoke from exhaust, cigarettes or cigars.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me well and helped me see the blessings of God in my life. I know that prayer is talking with God. We must pray to Him. We need Him. I see numberless 'little things' that prove to me there is a God. Nature screams to me that it was created by a Heavenly being. I know that my trials can strengthen me and that there is always hope because of the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I know that my Redeemer lives and suffered for the sins of all. I feel His healing power when I repent correctly. I feel the absence of the Holy Ghost when I transgress God's commandments. Therefore, I know that the commandments I do my best to keep were heaven-sent. The Book of Mormon is a strong witness that Jesus is the Christ, and helps me to know that this is the true Church of God. I cherish the Book of Mormon as a modern-day translation of sacred and ancient writings.

How I live my faith

I volunteered to serve as a missionary to bring others the truth. I help others to put their trust in God through prayer, reading the scriptures and attending church. I share with those I love about the important message of a living prophet on the earth and that we are invited by God to pray to Him to find out if the Lord's church really was and needed to be re-established on the Earth.
