Hi I'm Hyrum

I grew up in Idaho, I love soccer and basketball but not as much as my amazing wife and son and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Idaho. I recently graduated from college with a business finance degree. I played college soccer for 4 years and love all sports and doing nearly anything outdoors. But most of all I love my family and spending time with them. I'm a seminary teacher (high school teacher that teaches religion to teenagers) and I love it. I couldn't imagine a better job.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my whole life but I have learned for myself that it is true. I have had many ups and downs and many doubts in my life that looking back is even more of a witness to me that there is a God in heaven who loves and knows me. In a confusing and ever changing world being a Mormon has brought confidence, certainty and direction in my life. When I have confronted trials and adversity in my life the knowledge the gospel of Jesus Christ and His atonement has brought me to know that everything will work out. Sometimes it takes a while but it does come. And that is the purpose of this life, it is a time for me, and everyone else, to learn and be tested and prove to God that we will be obedient in all things so one day I can return to life with Him forever with my family and all those we love.

How I live my faith

I served a two year mission in Brazil which changed my life by watching the lives of others change by the effect the gospel of Jesus Christ had in their life. Every night I kneel down with my wife and we pray together before we go to bed and before every meal. Prayer has strengthened our marriage and our family. We also strive to read the scriptures together everyday which is also a big strength in our lives. I'm also a seminary teacher in Utah. All over the world all the young people from age 14 to 18 have the opportunity, either before, during or after school, to be taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and for those over 18 it is called institute. Every school year focuses on a different book of scripture. This school year is dedicated to the Old Testament and then the next year to the New testament then The Book of Mormon and then the Doctrine and Covenants. It is amazing and great blessing to be a apart of the experience of seeing those that embrace and love to learn of Jesus Christ at such a young age and see how there lives change for good.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Obviously God doesn't love one side of the world more than the other. The Bible is a record written by many prophets who lived in the middle east who testified of Christ. The Book of Mormon is a record written by many prophets who lived in the Americas who testified of Christ. Just like God revealed himself to Noah, Moses and Abraham. He also revealed himself to prophets like Nephi, Jacob, Alma and Moroni. Mormon was just one of the prophets who took hundreds of years of recordings and compiled them and thus it being named after him. His son Moroni was the last one to have the record and he burried them in the ground to be preserved for our day. And in the 1800's Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith and showed them where they were hidden and Joseph Smith translated them by the power of God. Show more Show less
