Hi I'm Whitney

Soy misionera. Yo se que mi Salvador vive. Soy mormona. I'm a missionary. I know my Savor lives. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in Arizona, Spanish speaking! I am so grateful for this time that I have to serve the Lord. Sharing the gospel is the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Before my mission I was preparing to become a dental hygienist. Now I'm not so sure that is what I want, but I'll worry about that when the time comes. I love to exercise!!! Run, longboard, snowboard, hike, rock climb; you name it I like it! I love my family more than I did before and have gained a greater appreciation for life. I don't come from a huge family. I have a few siblings and my mom. I do have a larger extended family and friends who have all shown me great support through out my life and my mission. My family isn't perfect; my parents divorced when I was little and we've been through a number of trials. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has healed me and made me stronger.

Why I am a Mormon

Life before becoming fully active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was frustrating and lonely. I felt out of place and I didn't understand why I was so angry or why my life had to be as difficult as it was. I drifted in and out of the church for a few years in high school, it wasn't until college that I made a serious effort to put my life together. My older brother, who had returned to the church a few years before, and his wife, a convert, showed me how much better life could be if I involved the Lord. So I began to pray, read from the Book of Mormon daily, and attend church. Slowly my desires changed and the weight of my mistakes was lifted. After about a year and a half I felt I should serve a mission. Since then I have more fully felt the guidance of the Holy Ghost in my life, seen countless miracles and blessings through following the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have prayed, more than once, to know if God is listening, if He loves me, if the Book of Mormon is true, and if Joseph Smith was a prophet. I have received witness after witness, through the impressions of the Holy Ghost, that these things are true. We truly can have pure joy in this life and gain great direction through the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ if we want it and work for it. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know it contains the fullness of Christ's gospel. He established His gospel through Prophets, Apostles, the Priesthood, Revelation, and the Scriptures. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ restored His church to the earth - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - and gave us the fullness of the gospel through the Book of Mormon. Our Father in Heaven loves us enough to give us a prophet to guide us in our day, his name is President Thomas S. Monson. I know he speaks God's words because I have prayed and asked God. I love my Savior and my Father in Heaven. I know these things are true.

How I live my faith

Faith is shown by our works - our actions and decisions - each day. I show my faith in Jesus Christ by serving a full-time mission. As missionaries we have the opportunity to share the gospel with everyone we see and to serve them individually as well. We have painted houses, cleaned yards, dug trenches, and washed dishes. We will do whatever needs done to help families' burdens be lifted (except babysit children) and help them come unto Christ. Each day that I chose to read the scriptures and pray I show faith in my Savior. When someone shuts a door in our faces I chose not to be upset and show charity instead. I repent each day for the things I did not do quite right, change bad habits, and put better ones in their place. My belief that Christ truly died for me gives me the desire and motivation to repent. I know that if I repent it means Christ suffered just a little less for me. I am not perfect, but through Christ one day I can be. I keep the commandments, listen to the prophet's counsel, and apply it to my own life. I strive to be patient with myself and others. I love to serve others! I love to help in anyway that I can, "...when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. (Mosiah 2:17 - The Book of Mormon)" it brings me great joy to see the relief and happiness come to those we serve.
