Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a swing champion, a sandcastle apprentice and a finger painting extremist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student figuring out my way in life. I am learning to grow up and take on the responsibilities of life while learning who I am and embracing the inner child who may never grow up. The mighty balance of life between, the good, better and best things to conquer in life. I have learned that it doesn’t matter how great and wonderful of a plan that I have for myself in this life, God has a greater, better plan that will bring me the joys and blessings that I couldn’t have dreamed up for myself. He can see the entire big picture while I only have revealed to me a little at a time, so my quest is to know his will for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I had the blessing of being born into a family with two faithful Mormon parents. They taught me the good morals and high standards of their faith and showed me how to live them. But faith isn’t just a hobby it is a way of life so of course there were times when I had to make the decisions in my life if this was the course I really wanted to follow. Do I believe? or Do I not? And it all came down to what made me the most happy. When I was around age 16 I did an extensive study by topic in the scriptures (Bible and Book of Mormon) on the word “Happiness”, all accounts in the scriptures taught one main idea: wickedness never was, is, or ever will be happiness. Throughout my life this concept has continued to be tested. When I rationalize, justify or choose to do something that isn’t in complete harmony with the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. I feel emptiness, I feel heavy and burdened in my heart and spirit. Usually not something so overwhelming that can’t function but enough to not like it and want peace. But when I make changes and live according to the Doctrine of Christ, I feel a fullness of joy, I feel lightened and free and an increased desire to do and be more for others and to follow the Lord’s teachings more diligently. This is where I have found my happiness and peace and these are the truths I know will forever help my soul feel complete. This is Why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by stepping up and serving in the opportunities that are given to me. By doing the small and simple things each day like daily prayers, scripture study, pondering the ways of the Lord, and being with family that make such a big difference in how I feel about myself, others, and remembering the things that are most important in life. I live my faith by smiling.
